Since City successfully appealed the CL ban, Der Speigal has released some new emails that seem to cast doubt on the CAS judgment.

Previous internal emails suggested that Etihad were only paying £8 million of the £99 million sponsorship and the rest was coming from ADUG. A city director, Simon Pearce, gave evidence to CAS that thos wasn't true and the emails in question were because there was some “some confusion among individuals at the club".

New emails directly from Pearce himself seem to comtradict this. In one email to Etihad's Chief Conmercial Officer, Pearce confirms that he had sent 88.5 million (along with an admission of an error - it was £2.5 million short) and laid options for Etihad to pay it back as sponsorship.
