Last night

I put an article on here yesterday saying I had a bad feeling about last night and was told we would stuff the swiss 3-0/ 4-0 etc, now I hate to say I told you so but I can't recall a worse performance than that.

Berbs must be wondering what he needs to do and why we start a game at home we should win easy with only one striker on the pitch is utterly beyond me. They cut through our midfield like a hot knife though butter and don't even go there about the defence. Fabio looked out of shape, Evra was all over the place and the bloke next to me said he thought Rio looked like he was finished .

Now we will still get out of the group and last night might have been a wake up call but players can't simply turn form off and on so I hope we can get it together for the wekend other wise we could be in trouble. Lesser team will look at what Basel did last night I wonder if they shouldn't play the same way.

massive gamble by fergie not investing in our midfield this summer. Scary to think that cleverly and fletcher are our only options I can think of to come into cm...

Agree mate – the writing was on the wall - Scholes had retired, Hargreaves left, Fletcher had struggled for 6 months with a virus, carrick out of form and cleverly unproven now we have to make do with what he have got unless he can figure something out in january
I guess there is always Gibbo to come back
I suppose fergie must have wanted a midfielder but it must have just been that he couldn’t get the one he wanted – either schneider or modric etc

I get the impression that hes looked at cleverly and especially anderson and figured they are ready to step up to the mark. Way too early to judge cleverly although early signs are good. Anderson on the other hand remains frustratingly inconsistant, a bundle of energy but not much guile or end product...

forget berbatov, he had the chance to give us victory yesterday, that chance he wasted at the very end was just too much for me to take. i just can't see him getting better and i don't think SAF will have any problem dropping him after that, not that he's ever had one though.

It seems to me as if we have bought a few players who (potentially) need a team built round them – Rooney, Berbatov and possibly Anderson

Rooney is the most effective of the three and so fergie has found a striker, wingers and a formation to compliment him. Berbatov needs the same kind of thing but we cant afford the time or the momeny to build it around a 30 year old player who has only performed in one season.

I may be wrong with anderson as my evidence is only this season but it looks as though he needs a certain partner alongside him to perform at his best.

My point being that rather than build a team to make an individual perform better we used to have the opposite – individuals who would come in an improve any team – i.e. keane, Scholes, Ronaldo, tevez – flexible and able to play in a variety of formations and positions

That was a much tougher chance than the one giggs had at the weekend!

i think the angle was too tight to score from both times - both players should have cut it back to owen and nani respectively

I couldn't see who but there was clearly a man free on the other side of the 6 yard area, I know stikers are meant to be greedy but dear me had he just squared ti we'd have won. Having said that, we didin't deserve to win

To be fair to you OP, I read the headline of your article & thought " Get a Grip" we will win easily. I didn't even bother to read the full article as I was sure we'd win..How wrong I was & I take my hat off to you sir.
