Last chance saloon for RLC at Chelsea

RLC is quite possibly the one academy product that Chelsea fans want the most to succeed at Chelsea, but sadly I think the chances of that happening now are very slim. But, if he isn't sold or loaned out this season then surely this is his last chance to establish himself as a crucial CFC player.

Injuries and a chronic back condition have seriously affected his career progression, but he has probably run out of time at Chelsea.

I believe in him a lot. The one and only thing stopping him is injuries. If he stops getting injured and can actually be fit most seasons then he'll establish himself. As others have said he also needs plenty of consecutive games to go up the gears but if he gets that he's more than good enough to be a starter for us imo.

Where does he fit it this Chelsea team Superb?

Is he gonna keep Mount out? I doubt it. I don't see him as a deeper midfield player. So for me he is competing agst Havertz or Mount for a starting place in the team.

That looks a tough gig on paper
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thing is we don't know where Havertz is going to play and for all we know he could even play as striker. Until we've actually seen Havertz in a Chelsea shirt we can't know where he'll play or even if he'll have a fixed position at all. Maybe he'll even play in different positions for different games. It's a complete unknown at this stage.

But regardless of that football is a squad game as we know and different players play in different games, some more than others of course. But if there's no hope for any of our midfielders getting any game time behind Havertz and Mount then there isn't any need for the likes of Kovacic or Gilmour in the squad either.

I’m not sure it will work out for RLC. Love to be proved wrong, but if he continues to sustain injuries he will never get the opportunity to develop his game here - and for a player of his age he he has very little match experience already.

If he does though, I think on form he starts. And his stamina issues could work in our favour with the competition we have. Lampard should be asking RLC to give his all for as long as he can instead of pacing himself throughout the game like he does to last the 90mins

Yup injuries are all that's holding him back I think and it's a great shame and waste of such talent and ability that he hasn't been able to overcome his constant injuries yet. Maybe he just isn't designed to be a player that can play as much football as others in a season but there's still hope he can as he's still young and now coming into his prime. Even if he just becomes a really useful and well used squad player for us then I'd take that.

It depresses me Brummie. He is someone I really thought would make it with us. But it just ain't happening for him.

To be fair though, there were quite a few that didn't do themselves any favours!

Have we still got the receipt for Havertz by the way!
