Burnley v Wolves preview

Date: Monday 21st December
Kick off: 17.30
Venue: Turf Moor

On Monday Wolves travel to Lancashire to take on Burnley.

Last season, both games between the two sides resulted in 1-1 draws. Though there is a big gap in league positions between the two sides (Wolves 10th, Burnley 17th) and a 10 point difference, the outcome of this game is far from a foregone conclusion.

Despite their position in the league, Sean Dyche must feel that his job is pretty secure, as the longest serving manager in the Premier League and with the prospect of financial backing in the forthcoming transfer window thanks to new owners who should be in place by the new year. Until those new signings arrive, damage limitation is the name of the game with every point a prisoner in the battle to put daylight between themselves and the relegation zone.

Burnley come into the game on the back of a 0-0 away draw at Aston Villa. Much to the amusement of all Wolves fans, Villa, of course are furious that they didn’t win.
In fact, if Burnley had won the game it would have been the first league game, away from home that they had won since April 1961!!

Wolves’ last game saw a home win for Nuno’s side against a high flying Chelsea with goals from Portuguese pair Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto after Olivier Giroud had put the visitors ahead.

Wolves are currently without 2 key players, striker Raul Jimenez and wing back Jonny Otto due to long term injuries. Defender Willy Boly, midfielder Leander Dendoncker and forward Adama Traore could also be a doubt due to apparent injuries evident in the previous game against Chelsea.

With Burnley (like Wolves) being in a Corona Virus tier 3 designated area, the home side will not have the advantage of a limited amount of supporters attending the game, an advantage enjoyed currently by all the London clubs, Liverpool, Everton, Southampton and Brighton.

The game will be shown live on Sky Sports

That is a good way of doing it Tam Yeah it sucks for sure. I get angry just thinking about all the s prolonging this mess by not even trying to be sensible and use common sense.

My mum is in her 83rd year and i haven't seen her since Sept 2019, was supposed to go back in June for a wedding and good family time but that was taken away and with the state of things here i doubt we will be able to attend the wedding this coming June either. Facks me off given the time i get to spend with her was already limited and with her advancing years i won't get many more chances.

Yeah that's horrible Cinci. It's the only real concern I have about emigrating if the chance arises.

Had a stroll out on cannock chase today with my folks, keep forgetting about the old man's dicky ticker when planning the walking routes, he was struggling a bit going up hill today.

A bit like Leeds at old Trafford.

"Jack Grealish has been fouled 55 times in the Premier League this season, the next closest player is Sadio Mane (36)"

Almost 10% of those were real fouls, the rest were dives.

He really has mastered the art of the swallow dive, even the refs fall for it. As I have said before, he has even taught the rest of his team.

Has he really "mastered" it though, he's hardly convincing and the lack of crowds is allowing to carry on conning gullible referees in to falling for his theatrics. If there were crowds he would be getting absolute dogs abuse every time he went near the ball. I dont think the recent press adulation of his and comparisons to Gazza have helped, its just raised his credibility and profile to a degree where refs feel they have to protect him. You just have to look at the game last night, if Livermore gets sent off, then surely so should Hause. But no, referees only protect our national treasures, its always been the same.

But anyway, f**k the Villa, f**k the Albion and f**k Sean Dyche and Burnley. We need three points tonight at Turf Moor and I've a feeling Fabio will get the winner.

Made me laugh, Martin Samuel was giving grief to Neto about diving. It was a vicious piece and most unfair. He must be a Chelsea fan with his a**se in his hand.
