I've read many musical artists stating their love and admiration for their predecessors and those who influenced him. Oasis with the Beatles being an obvious 1. I'd imagine when adulation goes public the band or artist praised would take that satisfyingly.
I read today that Bob Dylan was at first very pleased with the adulation from the Beatles but later wrote a line directed at John Lennon's crutch for him in 1 of his songs thus dismissing him.
Was that a case of a master dismissing an adulating apprentice? Or was Dylan fearful of what was to come?
Also in my opinion Dylan was always a cut above lyrically but he will never be remembered close to Lennon/McCartney & Harrison melodically.
In my opinion Lennon (the talented 1) and McCartney will be remembered as far better song writers.
Also get the less talented Lennon on a magical mystery tour
So called idols being above their station

Elvis was apparently jealous of the attention The Beatles received in America. Weren't Dylan and 'The fab four' too busy getting stoned to worry about trivial things?

The Beatles are so far above elvis in every way possible. Actually don’t really like elvis much at all, he’s not someone who music does anything for me, but the Beatles were groundbreaking.

Elvis was just a big fat karaoke singer. Couldn't act either.

The best Beatles track was written by George Harrison “while my guitar gently weeps” the rest of their stuff was meh.

Dylan's "It's alright ma" is probably lyrically the strongest song iv'e come across. It resonates with me similarly to a modern band "She drew the gun" and their song "Poem"
I don't mind the Beatles stuff but it is twee for me.

Cash also stood up for the native american way of life, done some cracking songs pertaining to them.
Along with the rest of the highway man he was a legend.

The beatles being classed as a boy band. Would like to see boyzone, the Osmond, new kids on block etc come out with classics like hey jude, eleanor Rigby etc.
I preffered the stones but lennon and McCartney wrote some classic tunes.

Even the likes of tomorrow never knows, a day in the life - their more boundary pushing stuff? Not a fan of the early stuff too boy band/poppy, but what they did later after they met drugs was very progressive, and that’s generally what I think of when the Beatles are mentioned.
This still sounds fresh today for me: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pHNbHn3i9S4
