Does Kante fit in Tuchel's system?

Kante isn't just cutting it for me in Tuchel's possession-based system.
Most times he's been introduced, he's never really looked comfortable in possession, and quite a good number of times; he's lost possession in tight spaces.

His passing on the other hand isn't also on par with either Kova or Jorginho.
Yes, Kante will always be his energetic self, who does what he knows how to do best...interceptions, breaking up play, and lots of running; non-stop!

But still, that final piece of jigsaw is still missing in Kante's game.
He lacks the ability to retain possession superbly in 'tight spaces', which is a prerequisite in Tuchel's system.

This invariably explains why Kova and Jorginho have been the preferred pairing.
These two make football look easy on the eyes.
Cool, calm and composed on the ball, no matter the situation.
Adding to that, they play good passes!

Our clean sheets so far has partly been a testament to their effects in the middle of the park.
So it begs the question: does Kante fit Tuchel's system?

Over to you guys.

Jorgino is one of the poorest passers I’ve seen in football. I’ve defended him on here for a couple years now and actually like him and what he brings to the team, leadership, direction, moves the ball on quickly.
But his actual accuracy of passing is poor. Usually behind a player, bouncing and his long range passing is awful. Always overhit. Can do the odd good pass don’t get me wrong but it’s not his forte. He’s a recycler rather than a creator

Tacking's fine, just has a weakness getting spun by agile players when too tight. Passing's great, has better days than others but I'm happy with it. Penalties neither here nor there, scores most of them so w/e.

The niche aspect is being a great metronome playing out from the back. I don't get as nervous as other people when we do that cos shady as others can be around him I know he's got it under control. Becomes more problematic once the opposition is pinned back cos he can slow the pace a little too much sometimes, but that in itself enhances his nicheness - good player to have to take the sting out of a game if needed.

Tacklings not fine,...too many yellows
Passings not great, too many don't make the target

Jorginho is a luxury in English football. He is a deep playmaker - but English football is too fast for these types of players. Put Jorginho at the base of the Barcelona midfield and you'd see a different player who would be afforded time to play four or five short passes and then pick a dangerous pass once spaces open. Players at the base of English midfields have to be stronger, more physical and are used to win possession more than start attacks - players like Jorginho can be overrun.

Remember when Sarri first used Jorginho and people gave him space, he made a gazillion passes each match and people were raving. Stick an opposition player near him, and he can't receive or move the ball.

Tbf yellows will happen for a player in his position who's not the most agile, but yeah I see your point.

Passing in terms of the actual accuracy I'm not seeing it. Yesterday was a bit dodgy admittedly but on the whole he's fine. Very quick google search on his pass completion stats this season has it at 89% which is very good. Higher than 90% and you're entering Basquets level quality in a DM.

Tbf though lots of those a small 5 yard passes which do nothing. His long range passing is an issue imo

He could use more variety in his long range passing I agree, he's only really got that first time floaty one over the top lol, but that's never been who he is. If he had that he starts to become more than a niche player.

Any DM who's figures hit 90% or higher will average a very high number of "5 yard passes", beasts like Basquets included. Pirlo for example frequently averaged below 90% from DM but he did play those long range passes more so it balances out. For the type of player Jorginho is he'd be aiming for 90%, no more or less, so he's just below the perfect rate

As has been said, Jorghi is not best suited to the P/L,we know he makes the occasional great long pass, but not often enough for me,also he gets caught out defensively far too often.

To answer the ops question, of course Kante is suitable/desirable to TT's plans,as he would be to any sensible managers plans.

Answered your own question perfectly here... He's just not a deciding factor in games
