Where does football go from here?

The 6 clubs involved have a lot of work to do to rebuild trust. I do not trust them to try this again in 18 months.

Trust with their fans, players, staff, football authorities, fellow clubs and football in general.

Once broken, it's really hard to regain.

Would be interesting to hear fans of these clubs views on how their clubs can rebuild that trust, at least with themselves.

And the football authorities. Jumping up and down complaining threatening sanctions. You have a better job to do in terms of whom you allow into your competitions as custodians of clubs and showing more moral fibre in issues where it's not just money, but racism, bullying, clubs being run badly AND better protection of grass roots football.

Whos really surprised by all this. It wasnt that long ago the same clubs came out with Project big picture so not only would they not get relegated from prem league but would also have more say and more money. Just imagine if they had got that pushed through they would have been able to do anything they wanted.
I do feel for the staff, players and fans of these clubs but they did bring the game into disrepute and must be punished and the like of arsenal claiming to only sign up at the last minute so as to not be left behind dont wash. They knew about it for months and they all plotted behind the scenes so as far as im concerned theres nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.
Its impossible to punish the owners without harming the clubs so if thats the only way then so be it. We suffered under bates and FA and league hammered us as they did several other teams who got into trouble due to dodgy owners. Biesla got fined a fortune for breaking no law so these owners/clubs must be made to suffer the consequences of their actions. I think 15 point reduction would be letting them of lightly and should be relegated and those at the forefront should be kicked down a couple of leagues and very large fines

Totally agree with the notion of punishing, severely, the clubs involved, all of them. Mealy mouthed apologies and talk of last minute decisions doesn't wash. It was a planned and calculated move, to the detriment of everyone bar themselves. Self-centred and entitled pr1cks.

Reality is these clubs, whether we like it or not, wield far too much power and influence - and wealth, for the authorities to take them on. I just don't see it - but will be delighted if they prove me wrong.

I don't blame the fans or day to day staff at these clubs either, they're innocent as we were when all our troubles were on us. But this will come round again, for sure, if they're not hammered.

It's really interesting, the finger pointing etc. I think that if the Radz or the owners at West Ham, Leicester or any of the other 11 had been offered the opportunity to join the ESL they would have bit the organisers hands off and just imagine a situation where your club goes out of business and it transpires they were offered the opportunity to join the ESL with it's license to print money.
I think we've all been swept away on a wave of moral outrage, but if I had shares in the big six, I would want them to join the ESL as it could make me a fortune and also stop me from losing one.

I don't think you'll find many Leeds fans on here that will agree with you.

So, Elsbels, narrow self-interest determines your perspective. Isn't that what's wrong with football (and the world more generally) today?

Absolutely disagree with you on that.

I presume you think the ESL is a good idea, then?

there isn't a chance in hell i would want leeds to join the esl if they could. why do some people think we would jump if offered. so far i only see a couple of fans of the big six state they would want this and they're not really fans anyway. strike force and sandy from tottenham.

I actually think we wouldn't have wanted to join.

Think the club is far more on the pulse with our fans.

Yes they have made mistakes in the past (decapitated body badge anyone)

However, I think they learnt from that and wouldn't have gone into it without at least talking to the fans first.

If anything we might have been one of the unnamed teams.

But I dont think we would have put our name to it

No, I didn't say that, I no more want it than anyone else but it's easy to criticise others when you are on the outside looking in. I think most premiership owners when offered the golden ticket would have taken it, Radz is no different than any other owner. Those owners like Steve Parish at Crystal Palace were motivated just as much by self interest as Joe Lewis.

I hear what your saying, I believe we (Leicester) have the most amazing owners in the game however would still have doubts they wouldn’t accept the chance if they had £350m a year put in front of their noses. As a fan I would never have gone again though.

What we do know is the only people to reject were the German teams who couldnt accept anyway due to the fans ownership and PSG whose owner basically has World Cup to host.

We will never know who else would have accepted so let’s deal with these as harshly as possible

Actually speaking of decapitated body badge.
