It does really annoy me, partially it’s jealousy, but this City side have blatantly bought the league for the last 10 or so years. Yet, we ignore the fact and heap praise on them and Pep year after year.

I know some will point to Liverpool and United sides of the past, but that’s doesn't exclude the point, and was the league as divided when it came to money at this scale in the past?

I found this comment curious. Liverpool sides of the past? Are we talking of the 80s liverpool because the 90s and OOs liverpool team spent money but won nothing.

The previous comment is specifically talking about teams buying the league like chelsea and city. You actually have to win it to be part of the conversation.

If it's that simple then I'll have a huge bet on the team spending the most this window to win the league.

if we are talking about league titles then Yes I am sure.

If you are talking about smash and grab CL wins, fa cup trophies and the odd league cup then thats another conversation not related to what was being discussed which is buying the league.

I guess the initial poster was trying to say in essence is liverpool failed to buy the league

There’s no comparison between what we spent in 30 years between titles and what City spent in 10. We spent what we earned. You lot can’t say the same.

Oh and ‘smash and grab CL’s’ etc

He's spending a lot but at the same time he's dominating as much as Fergie was. I think he'll be safe.

Fergie is not really any worse than other top managers in Europe though. Two CL wins in 20 years. Mourinho probably has similar, Pep must be slowly approaching that. Klopp has 1 from coming up to 10 years? Zidane has an excellent record so far but maybe he doesn't win it for another 10-20 years or ever again.

The idea is that it's supposed to be hard to win.
