Getting to know your favourite Dylan?

Hi babe

Been listening to a lot of his Bobness the last few weeks and just noticed he turned 80 a few months back!
I could not quite possibly stick my 5 favourite albums in the ranking as he has made so many, some of which are favoured by folk, but then loathed by others.
So I will do so by decade and then go with the 21st century. Which period for you saw the best of Bob? What are your favourite albums? Songs perhaps? Moments?

Be nice

1 21st century
2 90's
3 80's
4 70's
5 60's

The purists were hardcore back then.

To this day I don't get it, he had already released Bringing it all back home, Highway 61 and possibly Blonde on Blonde so they knew what they were getting. Don't like it, don't go

Early Bob Dylan is the best... very early 1960's.
By the time he came to Manchester with the BAND....that drowned out his words....he was cooked.

They gave him the Nobel Prize in literature...in literature ...for the words...the words that stupid band
drowned out!!

And of all those early songs...."it ain't me babe"..."the answer my friend is blow'in in the wind"...........
my favorite is...
"Mister Tambourine Man".
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Put on you're wooly jumper and folk off.
The Band were a terrible band? Not amongst their peers or fans of good music. Thanks for your contribution though.

Gadam who's who of popular music of the time.

Off topic a little bit, a mate sent me a video performance of Roy Orbison earlier with Elvis Costello on keys, Springsteen on guitar and at the very end you see Tom Waits on an acoustic in the background.

Mozambique changed my life back in the mid 70s when I was at the most vulnerable of stages - 15 and preparing to enter the 6th form.

So I'd have to say Desire.

Big influence on my life as were Young and Cohen at the time.

'Roy Orbison and Friends: A Black and White Night'

The 'Big O' with T Bone Burnett, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, KD Lang...

It's amazing. Check it out.

Re. Bob Dylan, I saw him about 10 years ago maybe, at Hop Farm Festival. The experience of seeing him play was better than the actual live experience tbf. But I knew what to expect ('ooooohhh... THAT's the song he's playing!' and still enjoyed it.

Bringing It All Back Home is one of my favourite albums by any artist. Not a bad song on it.

Desire, The Basement Tapes, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, Blonde on Blonde... I mean... all incredible albums.

And I'm a total sucker for Knocking On Heaven's Door too.

Don't Look Back, No Direction Home are both great watches. And I really love I'm Not There too.

Not seen Rolling Thunder Revue yet, but I now feel inspired to check it out this weekend.

Thanks, Rapt!
