Ndombele

https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/10/blogs/premier-league/tottenham-hotspur/tottenham-hotspur-alasdair-gold-praises-tanguy-ndombeles-performance/

Interesting that Alesdair Gold mentions that Ndombele covered the most ground of all players. While I have not seen the actual stats he did seem to put more effort than usual and this can only be a good thing regardless of the opposition in my opinion.

Hopefully he has turned the corner and Sunday was a sign of things to come. What we don`t want to see is another half arced performance v the spanners

Yup, watching how he plays he looks for the give and go. This was drilled out of our players by Jose. Constant movement of our attacking players. Pass the ball and move into space to receive it.

Drilled out by Jose. Come on mate.
Yeah, Jose said “no one twos, just pass and then stand there.”
I’m no Jose fan but the blame he gets for last season is OTT. The players basically down tools whenever they’re told some home truths.

NDombele is doing ok. He did ok in patches last season. I’m
Hoping he continues and actually improves to become consistent, do it against decent teams and take more control/ responsibility of a game👍

But Jose coached them out of all that - come on.

Watch Man U and Spurs under Jose. Speak to both fans then draw your conclusions. Don't just take mine or your view.

I think its less of a case of being told not to do one-twos, its more of a case of the team not working on patterns of play, movement, trigger movements.

It seemed that it was all about team shape, organisation and then counter attack, give the ball to Kane and he'll pass it to Son.

It was obvious that he's far more effective as a number 10, Playing centrally in support of Kane meaning PEH and Skipp were there to clean up and keep thing tight behind him.

I thought he was great on the ball on Sunday (nobody ever doubted his talent) but what impressed me more was him ability to press from the front and win the ball back in good areas from where he was able to create. The way he played reminded me of the way Eriksen used to in his pomp

Its obvious that he doesn't have the engine or the discipline to play in CM in either a 2 or a 3 as he can't track runners. Hopefully Nuno has figured out he needs 2 shields behind him and 2 wide players (Son and another) to stretch the game and allow him to operate in areas where he's most effective

Roll On Sunday.... Lets see him do it against someone better than a pub side

Basically everything i just wrote above applies to GLC except he isn't as talented. What's more important is that it just sums up how clueless our management/ scouting is that we spent close to 100mln quid on two players, in the same summer, who want the same position, with the same flaws while not getting rid of Dele (who also wants the same position and has been stinking the place out for 3 years)...... Our squad management is a total joke

I thought Aouar played more advanced than Ndombele at Lyon. What formation and where did Ndombele play before we signed him.

Same question for Lo Celso.

It's more of the lack of coaching creativity to find a formation that fits both. I was impressed how Pellegrini played a 4222 to get Silva and Nasri behind two strikers in Negredo and Aguero. Something similar might have favoured us with Son and Kane as forwards.

I think it's finally sinking in that if he performs well this season, he'll be able to get the move he desperately craves in the summer.

The thing about NDombele is that his footballing skill set makes him ideal for box to box. From the deeper position he can play penetrating passes through the lines and few else can do this in the team.

On the ball he is an excellent dribbler and carrier of the ball, can break the lines himself and open up play.

In the final third he can finish and he can also create.

What holds him back is his engine. He's a weird one to watch because with the ball at his feet he looks effortless but without, even running looks like struggle.

Apparently last match he covered the most ground. And we dominated possession which means if we played more possession football and tidy passes he would probably enjoy the football and run around more. He's like a kid in the park.
