Donny

I really don't think Donny did anything to stake his claims for more games last night.

I acknowledge that (a) he's not been given a chance to get into much of a flow and (b) he was playing in a team that had a huge number of changes. Yet what really struck me yesterday was his need to get the ball under control, to take that extra touch, before doing something with it. In the English game, you don't get that sort of time or space.

So yesterday was the first time that I actually started to question whether he might be one of those players who's just not cut out for the Premier League. Does anybody share these thoughts?

On a positive note though: How good did Mengi look when he came on!

Funny thing it was AWB who didn’t move towards the ball

Its.mainly the Ole in crowd who dont rate Donny and take every oppurtunity to criticise him.

My take on last night.

Matic and Mata were horrible. And I mean really horrible.

Players who did themselves no good and were mostly poor were Elanga, Lingard, AWB.

Best players were Greeners, Bailly and Beekers.

Diallo and Shoretire are to weak at this level and will both need to bulk up a bit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought AWB was the player who did his standing the most harm last night. Out of the XI he was the most nailed on first choice player this season. Dalot's last two games put him under pressure, and his performance - dreadful in possession, defensively poor in sensing danger - gave Rangnick ever reason to continue favouring Dalot.

I know better to write off any youngsters, as their development comes in volatile spikes, but every time Shoretire has had minutes in the senior team I've thought he looks VERY far from being ready. By contrast, every time I see Amad, I think he has some way to go in terms of experience and physical development, but he looks like he has the tools to get there.

Bailly was the best starting defender. Shaw looked a bit rusty but I think he mainly needed a run out. Mengi must have done his cause a lot of good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I know he was only on for a few minutes, but the Asian Zidane looked decent. He probably only did one meaningful thing, but it was a nice little ball down the line for Mengi. A positive bit of play considering it was, I think, his first touch.

Surely we have to mark Zidane down for playing in someone who was obviously not going to do anything with the opportunity!

I honestly think Wan-Bissaka is up there with the most brainless players I've seen at United. I think he's more detrimental than helpful to us during build up. Some of the positions he takes up are actually laughable.

It's just a shame Hannibal was away on International duty because I think aside from Amad he's the jewel in the crown out of all our youth players at the moment.

It would've been brilliant to see him in midfield last night.

I couldn't agree more
I cannot imagine AWB ever being good enough for the type of football Ragnick or any other attack minded manager wants to play.
If ralf can make even a half decent attacker out of AWB, I will be beyond impressed

Last night was the sort of team I would put out if I was playing FM and wanted to rest my whole squad. DVB is probably the best passer we have that can play as a 6.

I'd take DVB over Matic, McT and Fred. In saying that, I wouldn't lose any sleep to see any if not all of them shipped over the next couple of windows.

Mengi looked strong in the tackle and could also find a pass.

What about Garner?

Not really heard much about how he is doing at Forest. I had high hopes for him, but if he is going to make an impact at United, he probably needs to do it next season. Especially with the likes of Savage and the real Zidane sniffing around the first team.
