Yet again we have failed to make that extra signing that would give us a bit extra to help us build on a good start. We needed another bit of quality but we do what we always do. Sign other people’s cast offs who are not good enough to get into teams below us.
Maybe we just don’t have the money and that’s ok I guess. But it’s disappointing as with a decent diving or two or would have created a real
Buzz!
Probably one of the worst teams in the league for signings I would imagine. Can’t imagine many other teams have made so many signings and so many poor ones. We have had so many players who have never even kicked a ball! It’s madness!
Deadline day - not good enough

Certainly feels like an opportunity missed, but that is typical. We desperately needed a winger, Zinck’s just isn’t consistent enough. We won’t struggle, but can’t see us staying the pace for a play off place. Good news is Cooper knows the players we’ve brought in, plus we’ve trimmed the squad/wage bill, but we are still short. Bournemouth did fantastic business, to me that’s them and Fulham for auto’s, we’ll probably finish about 8th. We were in a very promising position but yet again weren’t brave enough,to me we’ve sold the manager short. Great shame.

Yeah agree, it’s a shame.
Been going on for years though. Always out in pointless low offers for players and never get them!

I wonder what these boards would have said back in the 70's when we bought the two hasbeens, Messers Lloyd and Burns.
We are in a far better position than last year, and it would appear that we have the people who know who to buy, rather than inflated wages for journey men and we have kept hold of those that would have made the club a lot of money.
Folk were moaning when we bought in Spence, not much moaning now is there.
Have faith fellow trickies.

The positive to me is that they all feel like signings the manager would have approved off, something that has not been the case in the past.
Total guess, but reading the situation I feel the injury to Grabbs and Cook pushed us to cover their positions and limited funds to go for the winger. Only time will tell if they made the right choice but half of it is always luck!

I always though Frank Clark was a weal link at left back.

Feel Morninchile is fairly spot on here. Vast improvement on the scattergun approach of previous windows.
All the additions can offer something we need. For the most part they are young and Cooper has prior experience with a few of them.
Wingers were, unfortunately, priced out of a move. Bournemouth had a £3m bid turned down for Bowler. Considering the offer we knocked back for Johnson, can’t really blame Blackpool for holding out. Millwall and Wallace is harder to understand, as he will leave for a free in the summer.
Cardiff at the weekend was a shocker, both in terms of the effort, result and agricultural challenges Cardiff were allowed to get away with. However, after our start this season and the last season and a bit, I am relatively happy with where we are at present. Just need to ensure the weekend was a blip, rather than a return to the utter dross of last season!!

Not sure how people expect us to compete with Bournemouth (who didn't get Bowler either!)
We kept Johnson and Worrall, strengthened the squad after Grabban got injured (why no card for the Cardiff player?), and bid what we could afford for Wallace and Bowler.
Sure, it would be great to spend millions more, but that's the road Derby went down. Not a great idea.

That's the problem with parachute payments, it creates an unfair and ongoing advantage for teams that are promoted and subsequently relegated.
Our performance was awful, but so was that of the referee's. Another issue with the Championship, teams can bully the opposition without penalty, due to no VAR.
A winger would have been great. Wallace especially. But we strengthened everywhere else.
With Surridge, Davis and Panzo in the side we are far physically stronger than we were at the start of January. I can't imagine the likes of Morrison bullying them off the ball so easily. That was one of the major issues against Cardiff...no Worrall and no physical presence until the injured Davis came on. If all of those four are fit and playing then we are competing physically and our players can actually play football.

I'm with Morningchile and Redexe. We have to look at the bigger picture; and I've always said a manager needs three windows to put his squad together.
Before this season started I was hoping for and would have been satisfied with mid table. After seven games I thought 'oh oh were in a relegation battle again'. But now look where we are
The squad and wage bill are in better shape than they were before Christmas. I don't think we will be promoted; we could be in the playoffs, we'll definitely finish in the top half.
In the summer, if we sell Worrall or Johnson, we could afford to buy 2, 3 or even 4 top quality Championship players. Even if we don't sell we could buy a couple of very good players.
We will lose a few more games this season, but we are still on an upward curve.
Be patient everybody.

Guys, I’m back after being banned for 2 weeks due to Derby folk (vidal in particular) taking issue with me posting ‘it’s the hope that kills ya’ on their board after they lost to us a couple of week ago
Personally, I think Forest have been very shrewd and done good business - my major concern is that if we’re still in the Championship next season, we will almost certainly be losing: Johnson, Worrall, Spencer, Lowe, Zincs and possibly Grabben, that’s over half the first team gone which will need replacing
Maybe the people we’ve brought in will compensate for some of that - but it’s still a huge loss and I’m not sure we’ll be able to replace all that quality
It’s an interesting 6 months ahead 👍🏼
I trust Cooper and think the recruitment structure we now have in place is one of the best in the League
