First look PSVR2

The original PSVR was truly a brave step into the future for Playstation. And it still amazes me that they could get VR working so well on a PS4.

As much as I say it worked well, there was always plenty of room for improvement. Tracking, Resolution, setup, cabling etc.

Thankfully all this has been addressed and more, like adding ventilation. It may not sound that big. But fogging up of the lenses was an issue, and it was very easy to build up a sweat, especially in something like a boxing game. So while the first was maybe more a proof of concept. the PSVR2 seems like the first really practical VR for the Playstation masses.

I have been holding off on getting a PS5, but when PSVR 2 arrives I will be ready to jump in. The power of the PS5, coupled with the knowledge gained from the original, really will take the PSVR experience to the next level.

I quite liked PSVR but was always a novelty thing if we had people round, never really played on me own

I think people will be surprised by how big a jump this will be Tino. This original was something bolted onto the PS4.

PSVR2 has been designed from the ground up for the PS5, and the PS5 hardware has also been built with VR in mind. This will be quite a leap over the original.

yeah I think so too.... the tech in the PS5 pad itself is a leap.

still loving my xbox not gonna lie, but may jump back in a year or two when the Ps5 is more readily available

This will be the perfect time to jump into PS5 for sure. Shortages should be over, will be v3/v4 or a slim version, and a nice VR bundle.

As Amiga said PSVR was great but a little underpowered and yeh more a proof of concept using stuff that was just laying around - get it for the price point but long term was not a a great solution plus the jumps in tech are massive and yeh we need the controls. But to be able to get games like Half Life Alyx etc are important, and again PlayStation is the most likely place to have a captive audience to push VR to the next level, as whether people like it or not this tech is the future
