Spare a thought for Stevie G sitting in his Birmingham bedsit watching us take on Braga thinking what could have been as a route to the final opens up while he plots a top half finish.

You would.

I'm sure he would rather be in the dugout deep in European competition than having a load of dead rubbers.

I'm also sure he would rather have loads of money to spend in the summer which is why he's at Villa. He's playing the long game by getting experience that Liverpool will want but i bet he wishes he was with us for the next few months.

He's moved in with a bird that's needing a fair bit of work done but her Da's got loads of money and she's plenty of room to improve but secretly he's looking at his ex, a wee dirty scheme piece wishing he was with her for a night but grateful he's not got to listen to her Da talking pash all summer.

I'm sure he would like to be involved in a quarter final and potential semi final. He probably looks at the big picture though and managing in the Premier League, whether you like it or now, will pretty much always be the preference of the two. If Leeds offered GvB a job, he'd take it just as quickly.

If PL clubs want our managers it will be because they have brought us success. So it's a double edged sword situation and one that the majority of Rangers and Celtic fans understand.

Gerrard said he turned down PL jobs just that Villa was the right one. I understand why, decent club and loads of money.

Not sure Leeds are at that level, they will be lucky to stay up and are skint. Agree though, that's where managers want to be.

I’m happy with it too, wouldn’t have beat Dortmund under him

Villa was the perfect club to make the transition into the PL. If he gets them into the European places in the league then he fancy his chances of a decent run
