Tonight’s big game

Burnley v Everton

What result do we want and what implications does it have on us? Everton have loads of game in hand, but a Burnley loss means it’s probably a fight to avoid 18th from us, Watford and Everton.

I’d like, no sorry, I would LOVE to see fat Frank get relegated, not so much Everton, although the money they’ve wasted is criminal.

My prediction 1-1

Watford are a head scratcher. They play some good football at times. And they're dangerous on the attack.
It won't be an easy game.

Too true. Some on here seem to think it is 3 points in the bag. We seem to struggle to win the games where we are favourites, Newcastle and Everton spring to mind!

Elsbels, Germany explains it well.

In any case, I still think Everton have enough quality players to escape - even if they have a dud manager. They are more likely to pick up points than Burnley, in my view, so it helps if they lose to Burnley first.

Agree with Batty and tslufc - Watford could be a very tricky game, especially as it's a six-pointer for both clubs. Talk abut squeaky bum time, jeeez!

Also agree with Shawn - Marsch is definitely turning this season around. Let's hope we have enough games to pull off a Houdini!

Funny thing is, people are looking behind, they should be looking forwards!..

We are 4pts behind Brighton, we should be looking at passing a couple off those in front off us instead off looking behind, the more in between the better!..

Last night was proof that Everton aren’t necessarily going to win their so-called ‘easier’ games. So taking those 3 games on hand, to get those 7 points from 9 available to catch us is going to be a tough ask.

It’s quite possible they could only scratch 7 points from 9 games the way they’re playing. And I that Inam coincident would see us staying up. Taking their current form over the course of this season, those 9 remaining games are due to get them 7.75 points, and that doesn’t take into account their relative difficult run in.

I’m sticking my neck out and saying that I think Everton will go down and we will finish a point or maybe two ahead of Newcastle and Burnley.

Let’s not also forget that Brentford have 3 games against the top 7 and 3 games against teams in the current relegation scrap to go yet.

Brighton have 6 of their last 8 games against teams in the top 8 (those still fighting for the Europeans places)

Still plenty of uncertainties as yet. We could still finish as high as 13th if we play well and get a break.

You're dead right – we should be thinking of how high we can get up the table, not whether we can survive. As you rightly point out, they need to be winning matches and scoring more points than us. We're coming into our own again – with Phillips and Coops back on board, there is nothing to fear but fear itself!

Sorry Germany, too traumatised already to think it'll be anything other than scraping over the line - but your optimism is a tonic for the troops!

My brother is a keen Everton fan and he says the hostilities in the dressing room are turning half-decent players into a poorly performing team. The arrival of Delle Ali in his new Roller and fashion accessories is providing stern competition to DCL, who is a keen fashion afficionado. There are gender issues and personal rivalries too, word is that Richarlison and DCL can't stand each other, and everyone ignores fat Frank. Well, that's nothing new. My brother blames it all on Benitez, he says Lampard has good ideas but no-one listens to him. He thinks they are nailed on for the drop.
However, we still have to do our job, starting with three points on Saturday. Does anybody else think our new compact formation will cause Watford problems? Their home form is abysmal and while we have a track record for giving oppostion morale boosting victories, I have a feeling that JM has instilled some iron in the soulf at LUFC.

The problem of course is our run in is shocking, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and an in-form Palace will all be difficult.

Aye, but I think we're becoming more difficult to play. I can see (perhaps unexpected maybe) points from some of those games.

We've got 7pts from our last 3 games, that's 7 more than the losing streak we were going through before Marsh came in, Phillips back, Cooper, a couple more, surely that makes us a little stronger!..

I'd think players the last couple off games coming back and 3 games undefeated will be a boost for the team, all they have to do is concentrate on the next game and hope those behind do us a favour!..
