I really think Arsenal can still compete for the the 4th place, but it all depends on if he can adapt a different way other than 4-3-3 formation system. Because I feel 3-4-2-1 formation will help Arsenal more now than other formation systems.
Playing Tavares and Cedric as wing backs will make us concede less and score more goals.
Against Southampton...

........White... Gabriel.... Holding.......
..Cedric....Lokonga .....Xhaka...Tavares..
........Saka ..... Odegaard.........
........... Martinelli.............
Then two changes against Chelsea to freshen the team like Smith Rowe and Pepe replacing Odegaard and Cedric. Saka will move into wing back position and Pepe behind Martinelli.

The glaring thing here is the Tavares - Holding - Cedric axis. Doesn't matter how you line up if the players are rubbish.
Saka to WB would make a lot of sense IMO.

Holding in a 3 can do a decent job...he has shown this in the cameos when we are down to 10 men or when we need to just hold onto a lead.
Cedric...he has been consistently good. I think he is much maligned through no reason of his own (bellerin for some weird decision was played ahead of him and he was left to cameos) and I have confidence in him.
Tavares...what the heck did Arteta do to the boy over the past few months?
