I bet they wish they had motor bikes !

One overriding motto that always stuck in my mind was “Ride Defensively”. In other words, don’t go wizzing off at every opportunity even if you want to show the world your shiny new purchase.

I took my test in February 1975 when all you had to do was drive around three or four streets, pull up on an emergency stop and correctly answer a few Highway Code questions. The pass elevated me from a Honda CB250K4 to a Norton 850 Commando almost overnight. Don’t be like me and get something that you have problems controlling because it’s either too powerful or heavy. I went over on sand in Chelmsford a few months after purchase and by-standers had to help me upright the thing.

wouldnt trust myself on a bike.

Awesome machines but they are dangerous... you WILL come off it, its inevitable.

Lost my uncle in a bike accident

Lost a mate when young. He decided to overtake a bus on the inside, accelerating right into the back of a parked ambulance with the doors open he didn't expect.

Another former 'fizzy' owner here (mid-80's).
Sold it for a cheap 125 to pass my test then got a 350 'valve', GPz550 (rode to Spain on it), stage II tuned 500LC then a GSX-R1100 (slabby) which i took off the road in 1990 and raced it for a couple of years.
I'd happily get another bike but half the fun back in the day was going out with your mates (Box Hill/Chelsea Bridge/blasts down to the coast etc) but no-one rides anymore.

There are groups organised around the country that go out on Sundays/Bank Holidays and you can join them...They do local and national trips around...Beats riding by yourself

Ta bud.
That could be the way to go

I also had a fizzy in school mid 70s. Never progressed up to the Suzie as I just grew out of the phase.

Yeah I met a girl and the bike went
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's what happened to me. The bike got me the girl but she wasn't keen on riding pillion so riding her or the bike, the bike had to go.
