Yesterday

Very happy to get an opening day win after such an up and down pre season, against a bogey team and former manager. Not the best performance but I feel like it will be some time before were up to speed. Main things I took away from the game was that

Both full backs are way off the pace. Completely understandable following their big injuries last season but I don't think we'll see them flying up and down the wings for some time.

KK settled in nicely, few dodgey moments but I put that down more to getting used to the pace of the league rather than anything else.

CM was not what I expected at all, genuinely though Tuchel would opt for the energy and drive of kova and Gallagher. Hopefully he was just saving them for spurs but probably not.

Sterling slotted into the starting line up just as expected. Pressed well, loads of energy, in the right places and I'm sure he will be a great success long term.

Cucurella looked liked he'd been here for years when he came on. Small cameo but I'm expecting big things.

Broja put himself about very well, great energy and willingness to make a nuisance of himself up top, with only having kai up top hopefully he gets plenty of minutes over the course of the season and stays happy.

Good riddance to Marcos Alonso.

How's everyone else feel about opening day ?

I thought the 1st half was decent whilst not spectacular. 2nd half we were dreadful. Great result, but the performance does not bode well for next Sunday agst Spurs.

As you said both WBs were well off their best and the real worry for me though was both Kante and Jorghi. Kante last season notably declined and on the evidence of yesterday there is no sign he can arrest that decline.

Yes that's why I was abit shocked with the starting 11, fully expected kova and Gallagher

On the other hand maybe the pitch was just too dry

boy that Broja is very quick, just for a laugh id love to see sterling broja and werner line up together, even the cameras wont keep up.
Broja actually looks like the scarey type of striker that does well for us, give him a season with the first team and we will save millions. Can see him getting 15-20 a season with the right service.
Sad to see Alonso leave especially with spurs coming up as he loves to score against them.
Connor will soon replace Kante in midfield and should we get De Jong then jorginho wont be missed either.
Talk is we need one more ful back, maybe but we have trevoh and he is as good as Christensen.
Trevoh and KK provide the backup pace to ensure Silva can do his thing, yesterday Silva was barking orders at KK so even old dogs can learn new tricks especially from one like Silva.

It's sad watching Kante becoming mortal. It's like those CL performance in 2021 sapped all the superhuman energy he had left

Cucurella was very good good when he came on. Very positive signs

I thought Kante was alright. Considering he missed most of pre season he may take a bit more time getting up to speed. Kante and Kova against Spurs please.
