Leeds Utd v Brighton Matchday Thread

welcome to the Matchday Thread and a trip to the seaside for the Travelling Faithful 🏖🏝
The Team set something of a benchmark last week so nothing short of a repeat performance will be acceptable, only kidding Brighton have got off to a good start and will know what to expect so I can't see this being easy .

Venue...Amex Stadium...Date...27th Aug...Kick Off 1500hrs

Team News
Leeds United
JM has no new injury worries , too soon for Ayling and Firpo, Bamford looking doubtful again.

Brighton
The Seagulls have "pretty much the same squad" as last weekend, with Jakub Moder and Jeremy Sarmiento still missing. Maupay subject of transfer speculation (to Everton) so not sure about him.

MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head

A win for Leeds would level the all-time head-to-head between the clubs at 18 wins each, with 13 matches being drawn.
Leeds have only won twice in their last 17 games against Brighton and neither of those came in the Premier League.
Both of last season's fixtures between the clubs ended in a draw - 0-0 at the Amex Stadium and 1-1 at Elland Road.
Leeds have never won at the Amex Stadium in eight attempts and have not managed to score there in the last six.

Brighton
This is the first time Brighton have avoided defeat in each of their opening three games in a top-flight season - at the 10th attempt.
The Seagulls have lost only one of their last 12 Premier League matches, with that defeat away to champions Manchester City in April.
If Brighton are not beaten on Saturday they will set a new club record streak of nine unbeaten top-flight games, surpassing an eight-match sequence recorded in 1981.

Leeds United
Leeds' unbeaten start to this season is their best in the top flight since 2001-02, when David O'Leary's side avoided defeat in their opening 11 matches.
A win in this game would see them reach 10 points after four games of a Premier League season for the second time, matching their total at the same stage of the 1995-96 campaign.
The Whites have lost only three of their last 13 Premier League games, with those defeats against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

There you have it, even Jesse reckons this will be tough, Potter is pretty clued up so I'm erring on the side of caution 1-2 scoreline with one for Aaronson and Joffy nicking the winner

If we decide to get rid of Orta at some point, I'd throw money st Brighton's head of recruitment and be thrilled.

Brighton will give plenty of teams problems we were definitely better having klich in there 2nd half.
Rasmussen did fairly well today as well.
Brightons poor finishing helped us stay in the game and we missed a few sitters too.

Sinisterra puts that away could of been a wholyother story!

If you're gonna lose, keep the score down. Still been a good start to the season. Need to get a LB and a striker in. Winnable game midweek against everyones favourite

Well at least our goal difference is still half decent.
Many sides will succumb to Brighton so no disgrace but after last weekends euphoria we have been duly put back down to earth.
Mid table is our realistic and achievable aim this season.
Hopefully the players will be fit and ready for Everton on Wednesday whereby a win of any discription would make this an excellent start to the season way ahead of most of our expectations.

Yep, we were well beaten. Well done to Brighton.

First game I’ve not watched for a year or two. Unfortunately we were visiting our son in Leeds. Got updates from my son in Bangkok whilst we trundled around Roundhay Park. He said we were poor first half but should have scored through Sinestera.

Sheet happens. We move onto Tuesday night and TV. I’ll be at ER for that one though 👍
