Hard to judge. Both with poor teams. Lampard done an okay job at chelsea. Gerrard done a fantastic job at rangers

I’m still totally on the fence as to whether Stevie G is, or will become, a good manager. This narrative from down South that he was “fantastic at Rangers” though … Was he really?!! He won 1 (ONE) domestic trophy out of 9 in Scotland, in a 2 horse race. They went unbeaten in the league in his final full season to win his one trophy … and fair play on that … but he was up against an alccy depressive in the dugout as Celtic totally imploded. IMO he still has a LOT to prove as a manager, and the signs at Villa over quite a long period now ain’t good.

Rangers look much better with GvB

In Europe yes.

In the league we were better under Gerrard namely because he’s more attacking.

The loss of Michael Beale to QPR is huge, he was the brains behind the operations. Gerrard the figurehead.

His record is better than Lampard though but I felt at the time it was a schit move. Rangers would pump Villa.

Villa lads need to take some responsibility, same at Everton, and the people who signed them. Ultimately down to the managers to sort it out and they get the blame its their heads end of the day but ive seen enough of both managers to know theyre good enough at this level. Still early on for both of them, maybe too soon still for the size of the clubs theyve been lucky to manage so far definitely.

Now, as it was then, the answer is:

Scholes

Gerrard’s record isn’t much better than Tim Sherwood’s, and he’s recognised as one of Villa’s worst ever managers.

Nice of them to sack him before he can get a relegation on his CV, like Ole.
