Good weekend and we remain the only 100%ers in the top 4 English leagues.
Another individual error led to us conceding first, and it could be argued all 3 goals we have conceded this season we have gifted to the opponents.
With Ben White doing okayish at right back, but with Takehiro Tomiyasu looking ready to go, it brings back to the fore the question what is our best back 4?
Bar an unfortunate own goal, William Saliba has been excellent. Solid and composed, Saliba has developed very well. It should be a case of who partners him.
Question marks will be hanging over Gabriel. He has made quite a few costly errors, plus his rash decisions that have led to red cards. On the flip side, he does score a fair few goals. His more physical style, combined with his lesser technical skills, will always open up chances for him to be exploited - but many will argue you need that more agricultural defender alongside a classier one (Adams/Bould, Terry/Carvalho, Vidic/Ferdinand).
One of the problems with playing White instead of Gabriel will be that Saliba has to move to the left sided role. It isn't too much of an issue, as Saliba can play there. But ideally you wouldn't want to change a players role when he is excelling.
Zinchenko missing the game obviously didn't help the team, or Gabriel specifically.
Elsewhere on the pitch, Jesus and Martinelli had a less effective game than the previous 3 - a consequence of Partey and, especially, Zinchenko missing out. Saka was more involved and Odegaard was excellent. There was also a very lively cameo from Eddie Nketiah - some saying it was a game changing substitution.
With a midweek game against Villa before a trip to Old Trafford and then the commencement of the Europa League, and a couple of injuries already, it will be interesting to see if there is any rotation on Wednesday.

Maybe give Gabriel a shot as a DM - where his mistakes and bad judgement are less likely to cost us - and we keep his goal contributions - but we definitely need another central defender - white or holding just don't make the grade

Any win at this level is a GOOD win. Hopefully Arsenal will look at the Fulham game as a warning as to what can happen if you put in a sub-par performance, regardless of the opposition.

If I was you TopLad, I wouldn’t be too focused on the result outcome. These games against the big boys are just bonus points if you get a draw or win. Main teams are bottom 10 for you guys
