Victor Orta

Interesting report posted this morning:-

https://motforum.com/article.php?page=43855

As with all of these reports, there's no sure way of telling if there's any truth in them until they start to happen.

If it is true, is it good or bad news for Leeds? Is it a case of "better the devil you know" or can we do better?

This is one that I'm sure will divide the fanbase and there will be strong opinions both for and against.

AR took the club on and asked Cellino for help before he took full control, Cellino called him an idiot and said he'd be wasting his money!..

Why I'm sure Cellino knows!..

I think AR's intention was to take us up as soon as pos, but the crap the club was in and Cellino's help that didn't come held him back!..

The only way for this club to move on was someone like AR, but him not being a football man he needed help, and he brought in Kinnear and Orta, whether or not that was the right choice they are who have us where we now are!..

And the way Leeds United was bleeding we're a lot healthier now than sinse before meltdown!..

Mistakes have been made, but that could have happened with anyone as well as Orta, he's brought some bad in but he wouldn't know that until he's given them a chance to show themselves, we were getting some decent player's before Orta came in, even people here were happy until they started playing and we found they weren't as good for us as they were at their previous clubs, but with some good we also brought some crap in, so add both together then we were no better before him!..

Orta bringing player's in, surely he must be talking to his coach and his boss before doing so!..

And that mean's Bielsa as well who was/is one off the hardest on the planet to please!..

i know were a big team, a one team city but when i began following leeds we were going backwards.
A series of failed managers which some on here actually liked didn't come close to bringing us back to the prem.
AR, Orta and the best manager we had in those times got us playing great football and promotion. i'll always thank all involved for that.
for me last year was the fluke. injuries are something that happen to all teams but ours were massive.
i believe all our problems stemmed from our lack of investment the summer of our second season back.
we seemed to have corrected that to a point but no matter who we are its going to take at least five seasons to be pushing consistently for Europeon spots. i like jessie for now and our new players but nothing should be taken for granted because we have a great fan base.

We were mid-table in the Championship year after year.

More and more wealth coming down from the Prem via parachute payments, our best players being nicked every year by Prem teams.

It wouldn't matter that we're "Leeds United" - that's just a conceit. We would still be in that mire now if it wasn't for Bielsa turning our team of also-rans into match-winners.

It's amazing how the bad times seem not so bad to some people when they've been left behind. I remember the despair year after year that was brushed aside by Radz, Orta and Bielsa.

I just can't get my head around how some of our fans are completely unappreciative of how the three of them together improved our club.

The issue we have isn't with Radz, it's his sidekick Orta.

Should have also stated that if I was the owner of LUFC ( Dream on) , would I have continued with Orta? - very unlikely.

Too much reliance on Spanish speaking Football.

Players of late are down to Jesse not Victor.

Who do you think Gnonto is down to, Wilko? In three years from now, he will be a top player, hopefully for us.

And in looking at the impact of Radz, Kinnear and Orta on the pitch, think about how Bielsa reformed us as a club, from top to bottom, how we have rebuilt relations with the local community, how our style of play has been integrated at every level, and how young players are making it into our first eleven and holding their place there.
We are so far removed from where we were five years ago, we might as well be on a different planet.
To fail to acknowledge our management team's role in this transformation is criminal.

Gnonto is only 18 although potentially the real deal.

I'm talking about week in week out first teamers not 'sell on' under 21s.

I've never understood people who blame him for all the youth players he signed when cellino left.

Its well documented that at the time the youth side of things had been so decimated that we just needed bodies and we knew that some had no real chance of making it here but it was needed for the youth side of things to function.

So I dont hold him in anyway responsible for those signings.

However, overall I wouldn't say his record is great however when he has got it right he has knocked it out the park, bielsa, raph, meslier for example.

I do find it odd though that people are saying that a prime example of how bad he is was the fact that we signed James, a player who Bielsa was adamant we sign as it was who he really wanted for his team, but then try to tell everyone how the good signings from this year, Sin, Adams, Rocha arnt his signings cause Marsch was adamant we sign them as they were who he really wanted for his team.

Just seems odd that it seems, in some people's eyes, all the good stuff is either someone else, or pure luck, but the bad stuff is always a 110% his fault.

Actually, I don't find it that odd now I think about it because, you know, this forum and everything...

On this topic (as on most) there are extremes of opinion expressed in both directions - I suspect the reality is somewhere in the middle.

Forgot to add, for me as fans we owe Radz a huge thank you. He took the mess of a club we were and
bit by bit, he has righted the ship. Off the pitch mainly.
Which was his remit. Financially, we are stable.

Ignoring that fact is flat wrong.

He put his faith in Orta, yes. And as I said before, I've
wanted Victor gone at times and praised him others.
They've worked well (and sensibly) together. Outside
of the Bielsa driven Dan James signing, the club's
done fine overall. And we're a much more attractive proposition now for any one wanting to take over.

I said back there somewhere that I'd think most people in his job have more misses then hits!..

I'm to dumb for the internet but I'd love to see a stat on all in the Premiership doing the same job just to see how many hit/misses they've had!..
