CLARK AND KAY???

PROBABLY NOT...
first half clark and cooper, no problems..
second half, still having 90% of the game we looked shifty at the back again..

why??

i do believe that kay and clark both do a lot of shouting, but not enough listening..

they were both out of position on a number of occasions, which does not happen when they are playing with another centre back..

loads of chances, but we passed when a shot was the better option and had a shot when the pass would have been much better..

dissapointed in colgan, he never came for anything and that didnt hepl the few times that city got in our box..

another night we score 4-5 and everyones happy, but it wouldnt cover up the problems we have when kay and clark get together..it gets too deep, we give away silly fouls around the box and fatally we give away too many corners and throw ins when we really dont have too..

not interested in what clark said afterwards, he hasnt sorted the defensive side and the goals tonight and the couple of other chances city had were of our own making, just like most of the goals we concede..

thought city defended with some guts but we should have been out of sight after 15 minutes of the second half...

the penalties just summed up a bad night in front of their goal and another disjointed and shifty second half in front of our own goal..

Thanks for the run darn' 38,

One thing you mentioned, & I observed watching prem' league games at the weekend.
The haphazard defensive formations at corners !
There were 3 goals scored because there was NO fullback on his post.
& One goal averted Because there was a defender present to make the clearance.
Am I old fashioned , or 'out of touch' ? I don't know, you tell me.
Schoolboy knowledge ... as a fullback, stand by your post for corners...
Then you mentioned Bradford catching us on the break a couple of times ....."Because they left players up & wide"..... I'd buy you a 38 !
Just what I proposed over a week ago.

eMBee, re- Clarke,
I agree with you that McCombe should be reinstated (with Kay) asap... BUT, I can't see it (hope I'm wrong). eLL Cee defo has his favorites, I think the best we can hope for is a suspension, or heaven forbid , an injury, That again, makes a forced change to the starting Eleven.

Maybe tell LC that PC has been saying that he is looking at bit fat in his suits nowadays. Not to worry though as Christmas is coming up and the team need a santa!

So are people rushing out to get dodgy satelites installed to not have to pay the Sky high prices???

I too am another who is sort of glad we are out of the JPT.
If we had won and drawn say Morecambe at home in the next round the attendance would be back to the norm for this comp, A couple of thousand and another distraction from what really matters, the league.

What i didnt understand is why was Cooper withdrawn ? The lad has been patient, Did little wrong and i thought he brought a little balance to the backline being a natural left footer.
As said, Captain no 1 was lucky to recieve only a yellow with a stupid foul in the first minute, And then when captain no 2 was introduced, Kay needlessley passed the ball into touch, Needlesley headed the ball into touch and then recieved a yellow for another daft challenge, All within 5 minutes and all before heading into his own net.

My mate summed last night up when he said " Town did well to keep Bradford in the game "

cooper had a back spasm at half time..

they are like "highly tuned racehorses"...???

being highly tuned and not "playing" enough is a very dangerous game, healthwise..

im glad someone else has noticed how many times we put the ball out for throw ins and corners when kay and clarke are together...we also start that silly passing across the back 4 when they get together, what the f-ck is that about???
too much watching match of the day i fear..

If bennet played last night we would have gone through . He would have saved at least 3 pens last night .

You maybe right or you maybe wrong there Loui, But i never ever want to see Colgan between the sticks when points are at stake.
As a benchwarming specialist, If needs must, cheap living locally third choice keeper Colgan is ok.
But not as a starter ( he reminds me too much of Tim ).
If Smithies is going to be long term and it is looking like it maybe ?
We need another keeper.

As for Cooper having a back spasm ?
Add to that Gobern early doors !
Who the heck is doing the warm ups with em.

I have supported Peter Clarke since hes been out of the team and always thought he was a better option than McCoombe. Since Clarke's absence, Kay has looked superb and looked a totally different defender to last season when he was playing alongside Clarke. He then gets partnered with Clarke and hes all over the place! Is this a coincidence or is Clarke to blame for Kay's poor form when he plays alongside him???

I do like Peter Clarke but we did look very shakey in the 2nd half when Kay come on. Kay then puts the ball into touch, gives away silly free kicks and scores an own goal! He wasnt doing this when Clarke wasnt in the team! It is because hes no longer in a position of aythority (being captain) so doesnt try as hard and is more lax in his play??? Does being captain really have that much of an affect on him?!

I cant see this partnership changing for saturday as we might not have another couple of CB's available! Its clear fin my view that Clarke cannot play with Kay. The partnerships should therefore be either or:

Clarke and Cooper
Kay and McCoombe

What does everyone else think?

captain caveman scored and he got away with a ridiculous first minute foul...

clark will pick him, he is a warrior...

clark will forget that p clarke would not have had to equalise if we defended properly in the bloody first place...

He is a bit of a 'lionheart' and does score the odd decent goal to be fair!!!

This does not however paper over the cracks of the shoddy defending at times. City had 1 shot in the 1st and 1 in the 2nd, barring their goals. Colgan saved both efforts but no thanks to the defence!

Kay was equally, if not worse, on the night and they shouldnt be paired together for the forseeable, unless its the last resort!
