LIVERPOOL v DERBY COUNTY - EFL Cup |
Anfield, Wednesday 9 Nov 2000 |
First the good news: Cashin's has been over turned. Bad news: we're playing Liverpool and with a threadbare squad, we are being stretched through injuries to a squeak. |
These games are always a potential banana skin (have you ever seen ANYONE slip on a banana skin?) to a big club like Liverpool but I genuinely feel this may taking heroics too far to have an upset. |
I can't really be bothered to get a rise out of Liverpool fans - got a soft spot for Liverpool as one of my family works at the Liverpool Royal and never prioritises woolly backs over Scousers - well, not intentionally. And I also spent some of my formative years in the shadow of Paddy's wigwam. And Scouse - believe it or not - lives there. |
Derby Faithful support will be very apparent in bringing nearly 6000 fans to the Anfield Rd end - followed by another 6000 on the trip to MK Dons on Saturday. |
Look, it is what it is. Play like we have played when we have been good, we may eke something out of this - a replay? which will give us more games - not good. Watching v Bristol Rovers, many of our players looked knackered. |
And finally, the decision to have NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children on our shirts starting on Wednesday at the 'Pool is a phenomenal one and much to be admired. |
Team news:- Forsyth, Hourihane, Cashin, Bird (C), Collins, Mendez-Laing, Smith, Roberts, Sibley, Osula |
Subs:- Loach (GK), McGoldrick, Thompson, Dobbin, Stearman, Aghatise, Oduroh, Rooney, Knight |
