Forest v Spurs - Match Thread

Do we stick with the same side and build continuity, but at the risk of exhausting ourselves for Palace?

Or, do we give fringe players a chance and make sure we are fully rested?

I’d go the latter, with the below team:

Henderson

Worrall Boly Bade

Aurier Mangala O’Brien Lodi

Dennis Surridge Lingard

Worrall and Bade are meant to be able to carry it out from the back.

I think Mangala and O’Brien played together against Spurs last time,

Aurier will be bang up for this and Lodi can play in his natural LWB position.

Surridge up top with Lingard and Dennis supporting.

Not too fussed about this and would rather concentrate on the league. Hence my apathetic match thread! 🤣

COYR!!

We had 16 shots at goal 8 on target, Spurs i don’t think made double figures, and i can hardly remember Hennessy making a notable save, Forster on the other hand made several decent stops.

Hennessy made 3 very decent saves but also commanded his box well. Good to know that we have 2 solid keepers at the club.

Have to say our B team looked better than our first team. We make nine changes and beat a strong Spurs side.

It would be great to get a decent draw - if anything it is a run-out for our fringe players.

I thought Lodi was outstanding tonight. In fact it would be hard to say there was a bad performance.

Awoniyi still looks a little lost, Lingard getting the goal that his improving play (tonight) deserved.

I didn't expect to be happy this morning. There you go

Have to say for me O'Brien and Mangala in the midfield made a world of difference. Yates again shows that he is going to be a great player and yes Lingard seems to be starting to show the type of player we thought we were signing. All in all the last 6 games have been a big step forwards. Roll on Saturday

I forgot about the Hennessy save in the first half which was very good, the second half were pretty routine, the header from Spence, and I can’t think of the other, but yes take your point, its good to know that when Henderson can’t play at Man U, after the WC, we shouldn’t have any fears about playing our second string, current Welsh international goalkeeper, after he finishes his WC duties. Also thoroughly agree with the sentiments above, can’t wait for Saturday.

I went to the match, took my daughter to her first match at the City Ground. What a game! Mangala was quality and Lingard shows if he’s played in no.10 he can be very good. Once he got his goal he was unplayable. Aurier excellent again. O’Brien very decent and he and Yates broke up play constantly. Surridge had a good game too but should have scored. Awoniyi struggled for me, not quite at it yet. Boly was tidy. Thoroughly deserved. Cooper must be wondering whether to play like that at weekend but suspect Palace won’t give us all that space.

That’s lovely Caniggia, hope you both had a good time and maybe she is a lucky charm for us

I would like to see Lewis start, assume Mangala is suspended now, not sure who I would drop as no particular issues with any of them, maybe question marks over Kouyate fitness over 90 mins makes him a candidate! But I do feel Lewis helps move the ball quicker than the others and that helps Lingard break into space!

Another positive feeling this morning 😊

As much as I like Yates, I’m not sure he was motm. Lodi, Mangala, and Surridge all ahead of him imo.

Who from last night did enough to start on Saturday? I’d start Lodi, Lingard, Worrall, and Surridge ahead of Williams, Dennis, Cook, and Johnson.

She absolutely loved it even though we missed first 10 mins waiting in ridiculous queue to get in. Half of the crowd were still queuing at kick off. She spent a lot of time just staring in wonder and also asking what the Spurs fans were shouting about. It was a 7 hour round trip so can’t make a habit of it unfortunately 🤣

Lodi deserves to keep his place. Worrall and Boly both decent but weren’t really tested. Spurs we’re pretty awful tbh. Mangala would 100% have kept his spot a she stood out as someone willing to take ball in difficult situations and had confidence to take risks and release our attacking players. I’m sure Kouyate will come in as he is so disciplined in this low block formation and has height. Yates won’t be dropped so does Freuler come in for O’Brien? Difficult one. O’Brien has more energy defensively but Freuler maybe better on ball. Surridge could keep his place but depends on formation. Johnson looked very dangerous when he came on but we benefited from an out and out striker.

I think main issue is I’m not sure Lingard and MGW work together. They take up some areas on pitch and MGW is our key player so maybe Lingard back to bench.
