I guess none of us fully know the financial situation and you could be right. However it doesn’t appear quite as grim to me as you’re suggesting.
It is clear we don’t have the finances to spend big but when have we ever? We’ve sold top players and re-invested in cheaper options. It’s worked so far but there’s always the possibility it would fail at some point.
I just hope we do as you say and get ourselves more stable again over the next 2 seasons. Possibly under a new manager who buys back into the vision we had.
I honestly don’t know what was Vichai’s legacy and what is Top’s leadership, but both don’t seem that far apart to me. We just have Rodgers too much say and invested way too much money in poor recruits last summer. Vestergaard and Bertrand are still being paid by us 🤦🏻♂️

I think we have a good idea of the state of the financial situation - this isn’t about not having the finances to spend big - this is about not having the finances to spend, full stop.
The losses are huge and unsustainable and I’ve not seen a club in the PL under the self imposed embargo we have had to go through. It’s bad Mersey and it’s not getting better any time soon. We’re talking selling players like Maddison and not being able to replace that quality as we’ve done in the past unless the recruitment is faultless
I don’t think it’s sustainable and I think we need investment to get back to where we were

£120m losses - the biggest in the entire PL, already being monitored by UEFA and losing players for nothing in the summer and you don’t think it’s as grim as I’m suggesting?!
There isn’t going to be a squad refresh next summer - under Brendan or another manager.

What an ignorant Cvnt.

I have always been quite impressed that on the Leicester board contributors have been able to express their views in a fairly coherent manner without descending to the vile diatribes which seem to be a common feature on many of the other boards, usually of the so-called big six clubs. Long may that continue.
It is a fact that we share many differing opinions about our club. If we all thought the same, it wouldn’t be worth reading.
In respect of the recent comments on this particular thread I don’t think I can argue with any of the observations posted. As to what went wrong at the start of the season our inability to refresh and Rodgers’ throwing his dolly out of the perambulator were clearly contributory factors along with the evident mismanagement by the board, the D of F and the recruitment under Congerton. Indeed, it rather looked like Rodgers was actively trying to get himself sacked, take a big pay off and move on. When the board clearly weren’t going down that route, possibly because they couldn’t afford it, Rodgers appears to have got his head down and started to do what was always expected of him.
It has taken some time for the defence to develop into a reasonable functioning unit. I had initially thought that Ward would prove to be an adequate replacement for Schmeichel. After the first few games I was one calling for him to be dropped in favour of Iversen; the same as regards Amartey being replaced by Soyuncu. I have now had to return to my original opinion of Ward and Amartey’s improvement following the acquisition of Faes is highly encouraging. I take the view that Faes is actually an improvement on Fofana. Whilst Ward cannot match Schmeichel for shot stopping ability, he is certainly proving to be not far behind and his willingness to command his six yard box is markedly better than Kasper’s. Poor old Kasper not enjoying the best of times at Nice either.
The addition of a specialist defensive/set piece coach looks like it is having the desired effect and is probably the main reason for the marked improvement in goals being shipped, although it is conceded that we have not played many high-flying teams since the beginning of last month (apart from Man City).
Whilst the debate about Rodgers continues, as no doubt it will, it is probably worthwhile taking into account how he compares with other managers at the club. Since I began supporting LCFC, those of note were Matt Gillies, Jimmy Bloomfield, Martin O’Neill and Nigel Pearson. Claudio Ranieri claimed the biggest prize but arguably by not changing anything from the Pearson foundations. When he did try to change things about it didn’t go well.
In terms of success achieved Rodgers clearly fits into this group. There are at least 24 others in that time frame who don’t.
Rodgers’ character? Arrogant? No idea defensively? Brings his dodgy mates in? Short man syndrome? Beggared if I know. Is he pulling things round (with his defence coach)? Looks very much like it.
There are also rumours of some possible spending in January.
As regards getting extra investment in, Sir Jim Ratcliffe seems to be looking for a suitable project!
Anyway, that’s more than enough from me. Keep debating, keep it polite and onwards and upwards!

One or more of you fine gentlemen should be able to answer this one. I was only able to see the 30 minutes television highlights of the Saturday game. Whilst we have a real combatant in Faes, there were at least a couple of “hold your breath” moments featured where he was outjumped by Rice and when he finished up having to speak to Danny Ward after a deflection went zooming past the goal. They were both near misses. Am I mistaken or do City still need a commanding figure in central midfield?
There was me thinking it was a comfortable win before I saw the programme, and commentators speaking about all these clean sheets, but it looks to me like City still have problems at the back and were fortunate on the day. Looking at the fixture list following the World Cup we could well get a good battering from far more potent strike forces than West Ham have to offer and find ourselves back in the mire once again.

I can’t comment on the West Ham game Downsouf but that has definitely been the case in previous games.
If Everton had been anything but rubbish they still should have had two goals against us.
However, when we’re defending now I feel loads more confident. Even against Man City I felt fairly comfortable compared to previous games when we looked like we’d concede if a team crossed the halfway line.
So I don’t think we’re perfect yet, but we’re definitely better. And most importantly, by being more defensively stable we’re capable of letting teams come on to us a bit more to create space for Maddison.
Do I think we need a midfield enforcer? No more so than we need Ndidi to return to form. But for me, the improved back 4 means we can have a more balanced 2 in front of them.
I think Rodgers priority will remain a wide forward that he can deploy in behind Daka/Vardy.
If we could sell Soumare and buy the box to box tough tackling Soumare we thought we were getting, that would be ideal. But also not easy to find (a buyer or a replacement!)…

Couldn’t agree more Mersey. Especially about our defensive improvement. Now, if we concede a corner I am not particularly concerned. Previously, when we conceded, I pretty much expected the opposition to score.
