In the space of just two transfer windows, Newcastle - a club that has been behind us both on and off the pitch for the past 8 years - have managed to jump ahead of us. And not by a little bit either. They are miles ahead of us now. They are now the best of the non elite clubs and will probably break into it this year.

Yes, they have spent money, but most of their signings have been solid pros and youngsters with huge potential. The kind of signings we use to make on a regular basis before Rodgers took over our successful transfer machine and turned it into a Southampton sponsored pyramid scheme.

The moral of the story; it doesn't take much at this level to undo years of progress. Especially when everyone else is moving forwards whilst you are stumbling through quick sand.

They also haven't spend silly money either, so far

70 minutes and he finally decides to change things.

£10m a year. Never forget how lucky and fortunate we are to have Brendan Rodgers as manager. That big 6 job offer is just around the corner. Any day now.

Nope. All realistic for a team aiming to break the top 6 at a measured pace and not bank breaking. The kind of signings we should have been making after the cup win. Sigh

Well that was utterly depressing.

Second to every ball.

Zero commitment to the tackle.

Holes all through the midfield.

Tactically woeful and second best in every area of the pitch.

Nothing done to change it tactically.

Pathetic.

I can accept being second best to a team, but I cannot accept the manner in which we just strolled around the pitch with no aggression, no intensity and no fight for the whole game.

Disgusting game from Rodgers, Soumare, Tielemans, Daka, Barnes and Amartey. Absolutely zero chance of doing anything when so many players are not just second best but shouldn’t be on the pitch.

Only Liverpool next. Brilliant.

Very worrying again. The way in which we lost that was most concerning. We never ever look like causing teals problem with our passive play. Newcastle just had to turn up and play with a bit of intensity to beat us.

There is a lot wrong and a lot that needs fixing. Quickly.
