Gillingham v city fa cup

Hello my darlings
What a morning I've pulled a muscle
In my hip joint/ leg, so I'm struggling to
Stand up sit down, without screaming,
Weirdest injury ever just made harder
As i can't pivot with thr right leg as no
Ligaments 🤷‍♂️,
Did anybody hear "Sofy" on 5 live
. Beautiful rendition of tops song,,
Tears in the eyes, 🙏

So, fa cup on the upside i can watch
It in HD on the tv,
Other than that i won't be relaxed until
We are 2-0 up,

Team news
Who ever is fit gets a game,
4-1-4-1
If Daka doesn't score today sell him,
Expect petez to have a fabulous game😉

99, there's no point in us keeping going around in circles and arguing over the same points. It's tedious and frankly a waste of both our time and energy.

FWIW, I don't think we are far off from agreeing with each other. On the main points, I think we are mostly in agreement. We both agree that Rodgers' time is up and he should have been sacked and replaced a long while ago. We both agree that Top is not his father and that he has made mistakes over the past few years and that a change of ownership may now be beneficial. We both agree that the club finances are in a dire situation and that is having a detrimental effect on the club. We both agree that the contract situation is farcical and should never have been allowed to escalate like this. And we both agree that the club is in decline and it will take a huge amount of work to turn it around if we are to avoid relegation in the next two seasons.

Where we differ is on who is most to blame, and when the slide began and why. Again, there's no point treading over the same ground again, but Rodgers is paid an incredible salary and is currently failing to provide any value for that wage. That Top is ultimately responsible for the continued support in Rodgers is undeniable but I still apportion the majority of the blame about what is happening on the pitch to Rodgers rather than Top. It is Rodgers dire tactics and mismanagement that has led to us being where we are in the table and having to scrape past the worst team in the football league. I am just a little tired of the "Rodgers is good, actually" takes when all logic over the past 18 months shows that he has lost the plot here.

I am not at all convinced that a change of manager can avert the slide we are enduring, but if we do not change manager that slide will continue until we are inevitably relegated. It may well be that it's now about who controls the slide rather than averts it - in the same way that the UK is going through a managed decline right now under Sunak rather than an attempt to avert it. But for me, I feel that a change of manager now gives us a chance (a *chance*) to bounce back over the next 2-3 years whereas continuing with the failed Rodgers project will lead to more long-term damage that will be harder to come back from. If we don't change course, then the ultimate blame will fall on to Top's shoulders and he will be directly responsible for not attempting to turn things around quicker.

Think whoever is in charge of recruitment and contracts should take a great deal of blame for our current situation
I don't fear for this season ,but next season fills me with dread.

They have both been very successful up to now, obviously the Summer of 2021 was a bit of a disaster recruitment wise but was Bodgers man there then.

Contacts were being expertly organised to get the best returns if a Club came in to poach a player and got us over valuations totaling tens of millions pounds.

The problem is now that Players and Agents have become wise to that, if a player really wants to leave he isn't going to sign a new contract that decreases that chance of the move and as we've seen some players are over valued by the wages they receive and aren't desirable to other Clubs.

Looking at the players out of contract this Summer, apart from Tilly the rest just aren't in Rodgers plans so why would they or us have tied them into new contracts?

Why would we have tied them into new contracts? To make sure they don’t leave for nothing or even better to sell them before they have 12 months left on their contracts and you’re in a no win situation

As usual you’ll do everything possible to deflect any blame against the club - levelling every single issue from recruitment to player contracts to finances at Rodgers door. Everything. One of the things I’m looking forward to when Rodgers leaves is watching you go round in circles for the next 2 years looking for something else to blame as we slide towards obscurity.

Also when we say the recruitment has been very successful up until 2021 when “Rodgers man” was appointed (which was a club appointment not a managerial one but let’s not ruin the tired old narrative) you seem to be forgetting

Ahmed Musa
Islam Slimani
Rachid Ghezzal
Ayoze Perez
Andre Silva (remember that farce?!)
Demarai Gray
Cengiz Under
Gokhan Inler
Daniel Amartey

Now of course you can point to some brilliant signings during that period that have been responsible for getting us where we are. Let’s not pretend however the club doesn’t have form for some bad signings as well (which have largely been masked by the excellent ones) because it does

The Adrien Silva farce is proof alone that there are utter clowns involved in running this club and have been getting away with it on the back of signing some very good players for years. It’s finally caught up with us

I think we’re mostly in agreement except I hold Top ultimately responsible for the on pitch results and our position in the table because it’s his decision to keep sticking with Rodgers. It’s his club - he’s always ultimately responsible. Had he sacked Rodgers in October I would have had every sympathy for Top - right now I have none
