Derby County 0 - 2 West Ham FA Cup #4.

DERBY COUNTY v WEST HAM FA Cup 4th round

Pride Park Sunday 29th Jan 2023 KO 1945

Used to think that Newcastle fans were the most entitled fans - believing in their own greatness - but I now present West Ham who managed to wangle a brand new stadium in circumstances that would make Boris and Nadhim Zahawi blush

We welcome the 'Ammers to PP on Monday - who are worried, very worried about being humiliated by a team that is probably their equal. They ve filled their allocation but such is the Faithful's total ambivalence towards this minor London team, we still have many tickets spare.

Team selection will be interesting or not. We're still stretched personnel wise and I'd rather keep the powder dry for league games. I understand Cashin is still out which means our Captain Marvel will start along with our grandee stalwart - Fozzie.

Look, we should be comfortable with this game (gulp) and I certainly do not want a replay. Just do the job and come back injury free.Do we want to progress? It would be nice but more and more games 'ain't brilliant in our quest to get out of this league but lets just say if we win, I'll be happier for Wednesday.

Team news:- Wildsmith (GK), Forsyth, Hourihane, Barkhuizen, Bird, Collins, Mendez-Laing, Smith, Roberts, Davies (C), Knight

Subs:- Loach (GK), Cashin, Stearman, Thompson, Rooney, Dobbin, Robinson, Springett, Brown

Was it the "Your ground's a running track" one?

Transfer Deadline day frenzy yet to strike it appears. I'm going to start the ball rolling by saying there is an unlikely unsubstantiated rumour about Lyle Taylor coming to Derby.

Regards Sibley, I did wonder if he'd return into midfield role. Considering he's shown more consistency in the LB role should he continue battling it out with Roberts for that position?

I see Luke Plange has joined Lincoln City, could we have done with him? We certainly do need two players to help maintain our push , especially if we have more players out with little niggles.

Are we going to get anyone???

One thing worth thinking about is that I believe Derby have never beaten WHam in a cup competition. I may be wrong & I'll stand corrected if this isn't correct.

Correct Jorv, unless you include the Charity Shield.

Apart from a 1-1 and 0-0 draw in the League Cup, WHU have always beaten us in cup games.

1923 WHU 5-2 Rams FAC
1975 Rams 2-0 WHU Charity Shield
1981 Rams 2-3 WHU LC
1981 WHU 2-0 Rams LC
1988 WHU 5-0 Rams LC
1990 WHU 1-1 Rams LC
1990 Rams 0-0 WHU LC
1990 WHU 2-1 Rams LC replay
2023 Rams 0-2 WHU FAC

I went to the Charity Shield, Hector and McFarland scored...magnificent days to be a Rams fan.

The only beer they had at the ground was Worthington White Shield, it was warm, strong and frothy but not too bad.
