Nuno

Word is that talks with Nuno are continuing. He’s the last cab on the rank and the view among our lot varies from ‘a safe pair of hands’ to ‘his best days are behind him’.
He had a bad run at Spurs but he transformed Wolves and achieved, arguably, more than Bielsa did at Leeds. There is a case for arguing that Covid, and separation from his family, affected his performance in the 20-21 season. The Wolves style under Nuno does not sit comfortably with many of us, but personally, I would be a lot less comfortable with being relegated.
So, how do you think Nuno would work out for us? A good bet to keep us up, or number one doorman at the relegation nightclub?

As far as I'm concerned Nuno is a really good bloke. He may, or may not, be a really good manager. Hope he returns to the Premier League.

I’d take him if we don’t get four points from the next two games.

We shouldn't even need a manager to get 4 points from the next 2 games. If we can't get 4, we deserve to face Ipswich next season.

Nuno would be a fantastic appointment for Leeds.

He didn’t fail at White Elephant Lane, he was hounded out by their muggy fans.

The Jimenez injury genuinely devastated him. Watch the BBC documentary for evidence of what this man is all about.

100% he keeps you up.

I'd forgotten about that aspect. Add that to everything
else he was dealing with. As others have said, a really
decent bloke. And good coach. If we did manage to land him, I would hope he'd sign on relegation or not.

He walked the Championship.

Agree Shaun. This has been a slow death for two
straight seasons. A club can't hover above relegation
in back to back seasons and expect happy times.

I think Nuno will get your bunch of headless chickens reasonably organised enough but whether he has time to come in and rescue a side in the bottom four I'm not so sure. He's not a Dyche type, he's a much more quiet motivator, has a bit of presence about him in the dressing room apparently and is strong on discipline, which can go either way from player to player. He hasnt got time to weed out any individuals who arent buying in as he did at Wolves so he'll need to make do with what he has. But he would be an excellent choice if the aim is longer term stability rather than short term survival.

Many thanks to our friends at Wolves for your insightful comments. No manager will tick all the boxes, but Nuno sounds like a safe pair of hands, and we haven’t had one of those for a while. After reading this, we really should be giving him a chance right away.
