Awesome song today - Ghost Town by the Specials. This song is one that wherever in the world I hear it it very quickly evokes a very English feeling and along with Come on Eileen and pretty much any Madness song you suddenly get transported back to those grey and rainy English days that these bands were borne from. As much as I love Australia you don’t really have that culture here that sprouts these kind of songs. Misery = creativity. Sometimes at least.

Used to see Terry Hall in a pub in Old Street back in the 00s when I went to watch United games.

The loss of Terry Hall a few months back in December hit me harder than any famous person death had for quite a long while. I love the wit and playful intelligence of his lyrics. And there was something generous and humble about him that was quite unusual for a front-man.
Ghost Town is one of their stone cold classics. There are also lots of minor masterpieces. Friday Night Saturday Morning is a particular favourite.

Like the song and video. Prefer Too Much, Too Young and You’re Wondering Now as songs though, but can’t remember the videos for those.

I prefer their more upbeat stuff they do like Gangsters and Rat Race.
A few years ago Neville Staple played a low rent long since shut down night club near me and a few of my mates were going. I was offered a ticket and although I wasn't fully sold on the idea I went along.
That was a good decision because it was mobbed, there was a great atmosphere and the sh1tty surroundings really suited a couple of hours of proper SKA.
Cracking night out.
