Party like it's 1999

The latest rumours doing the rounds are that we are actively looking at a new contender for interim manager, and that person is - believe it or not - Martin O'Neill, someone who has barely managed a league game in the past decade.

There are a number of reasons why this would be a ridiculous appointment - not least the fact that when TalkSport interviewed O'Neill a couple of days ago, he said that Rodgers had been sacked 'too quickly'!

If we are going back to the past, we might as well go full 90's retro. Heskey upfront, Guppy on the wing, Savage and Izzet in midfield. Get Pegguy Arphexad back as well while we're at it.

Seriously, what a mess we are in. All the options that might have come now won't touch us with a 6 foot barge pole. Top's blind loyalty to Rodgers has well and truly screwed us over.

Apparently according to Tanner there are no immediate plans for a permanent manager now. It looks like Stowell and Sadler unless the result goes south against Bournemouth in which case the club will try and appoint an interim.

Absolutely ludicrous decision to fire Rodgers without an alternative ready

If we lose to Bournemouth, we're down. End of. No point getting an interim at that point, just save the cash.

Agree with everything. O’Neill is a lols joke and if we lose to Bournemouth we’re cooked.

This is depressing isn’t it.

I view this whole thing as an unfortunate mistake by Top that anyone could have made. We should give him time to adjust to his role as chairman (only been 4 years) he’s still learning FFS. We should be grateful he’s here because his dad achieved loads

It is depressing for sure. No Knight on a white charger is going to ride in and save us. We're doomed I tell ye, doomed!

The epitome of a must win game on Saturday. After our resident home grown clown's antics last night we're going to have an even worse midfield set up. What are they going to change - Soumare to the rescue?

Not looking forward to it.

Well Nuneaton, I expect we’ll keep Ndidi and Mendy in the midfield with Maddison and use Ricardo on the right wing. Don’t expect any other changes.
I wonder whether Vestergaard is still training on his own.
On the plus side, all our other relegation rivals are facing tough opposition; Southampton home to Man City, Everton at Man Utd, Forest at the Villa. Leeds playing at Palace could be a draw and I fancy Chelsea under Lampard’s direction should squeeze a win at Wolves.
We’ve just got to beat Bournemouth!

If that gets Maddison into the middle of the park then fine. Getting Ricardo on the pitch would be good too. Starting Vards up front? Not convinced. Not playing Ian? Not convinced - and they are busily shredding his confidence to boot. Continuing with the awful ponderous sideways/backwards retain possession at all costs Bodgersball - not convinced.

We'll see how quickly Sandler and Stowell are learning - how did we score for example - route 1, not tippy tappy slow build up we are ill equipped for!

If you want to take any positives from the mess Top and the management aided by Brendan have got us into, we're potentially only a win away on Saturday from being 14th, it's still in our hands with several matches coming up against those just above us and the players showed a lot more fight on Tuesday.

If you want the glass to be half empty, I'm struggling to see where the next win comes from, we've got real problems in midfield, the players unfortunately appear to have only just woken up to us being in a relegation fight, the interim managers don't look too impressive (albeit after only one match and a short time to prepare the team), going ultra defensive is unlikely to save us, we have several matches coming up against those just above us and despite the players showing a lot more fight on Tuesday we still lost. Oh and KDH had a brainfart.

We'll see.

Apparently Stowell and Sadler are keeping with Vardy because of his experience 😂

That actually isn’t a bad thing you know. It’s not as if Daka and Nacho have set the world alight so having someone who won’t play the occasion and has been through this can help.

We just need to find a way of using the attributes he still has and it not just be a token place.

But he’s probably the only leader we have, and that’s a big issue in itself!

Oh come on Mersey his legs have gone and hes been missing the very chances he has had. He was totally ineffective against Villa. Iheanacho and Daka can actually score goals when given chances - he doesn’t do that anymore. He can be a leader in the dressing room

Interesting point about Daka and Ian, I'd tend to agree with it except that they have both been Rodgered. I reckon we're in deep s**t for tomorrow with the defence unable to keep a clean sheet, the midfield in a shambles after KDH and N'didi's brainfarts on Tuesday, all three of the potential strikers lacking in confidence and an interim management in place which has not so far looked up to the job (albeit they've only had a few days). This for what is as close as you'll get to a must win game.
Deeply worrying and depressing, I can see us getting more value for our season tickets next year unfortunately.
