Who do you want?

So let’s try to look at this from 2 angles……
1) Dean Smith is offered the Managers role full time!
Pros - He has managed in the division before so can work on a budget and with young players.
Will have John Terry working with the defenders for a full pre-season.
(Sorry it’s a short list)

Cons - Dean Smith
John Terry
I have seen nothing in 8 games that makes me think that they should be given the job full time.

So personally from me it’s a thanks but no thanks and let us move on.

I haven’t seen much ‘online chatter’ about candidates apart from Potter so far, and while I would love to see him come I think we have shot ourselves in both feet with that one.
So where do we turn?

I would like to see Michael Carrick throw his hat into the ring, young English manager that I think exceeded expectations with Middlesbrough this season, he will have plenty of ‘contacts’ in the game so it could be a fruitful gamble.

What do you guys think?
Who is a yes/no/maybe?

"The I'd Bring Pearson back, not as Manager but as 'Head of Football' , DOF if you like".

Pearson as DOF, that's the funniest thing i heard in many a long day.

It's what the Club needs right now

I like the idea of getting rid of Rudkin first, installing a new DoF and then get a new manager in.

Pearson as DoF is intriguing, not convinced he is DoF material but he certainly knows the club. Would also be able to quickly resolve any arguments with the new manager.

As for said manager, Deano might be OK in the Championship, not sure he showed enough for me. Has the advantage that he's already been involved.
Carrick may be worth a punt, but why would he leave Boro for a basket case like us?
Gerrard no.
Viera no.
Wilder no.
Hassenhutl maybe.
Lampard hell no.
Potter perfect but fat chance once Madders took the peno against Everton.
Benitez preferably not, can't see him dropping down to our level anyway. And do you want to get bored by the football?

MON no, don't ruin your reputation.
Bielsa yes please shame he's spoken for. Might be a bit chaotic but what a ride.

DOF is maybe not the right term which is why I mentioned 'Head of Football' , an experienced Football Man between the Club and Manager able to advise both sides.

That’s kind of what a director of football is really. Irrespective - he’s shown absolutely nothing at Bristol, Derby or OH to suggest he can repeat the success he had here anywhere else. Now I like Pearson but he gets an awful lot of credit for the non football side (recruitment, sports science etc). The way some describe him is almost as if he single handedly rebuilt the club. A lot of the infrastructure was put in place by the King Power, advised by Terry Robinson, and of course Pearson had an incredible back room team

Where is Steve Walsh these days. He would make a better DoF even though he wasn’t successful at Everton. Has anyone been?!!

As for the manager, I’d prefer to see a young up and coming a manger from the championship or league 1 to take us forward. I don’t know enough to put forward suggestions but that type of appointment or a manager from Europe who’s mixing it up is always preferred for me than a top coach that’s on his way out like Benitez.

Would I take Dean Smith? It wouldn’t inspire me and I worry it needs a full shake up but I don’t think it’s the worst appointment ever. But if o had the choice it would be a no.
