Dean Smith Deal Edging Closer

Certainly not a done deal but apparently Smith has support within the boardroom and after positive talks this week is the leading contender to land the job permanently as Rudkin continues to lead the search for Leicesters successor

Other candidates include Scott Parker and Gerrard (who was approached in April) with Man City’s first team coach also under consideration.

I think what this shows us is that the club are showing no signs of learning anything from last season and that moving forward - nothing is going to change. With Rudkin now effectively confirmed as remaining in post, the underlying problems at the club will continue to persist and likely get worse

If Dean Smith is appointed it would be another backwards step. He couldn’t even get a relegated Norwich side past mid table before they booted him so what on earth makes Leicester think he’s going to do any better?

There’s no big refresh here. No new era and no new chapter. It’s the same old broken mess

The one that interests me and whisper this ‘excites me’ is Maresca the Man City coach.
I would put him second on my list under Potter, which makes him top as we know Potter won’t come here now.
Potentially Maresca will have learned an awful lot working at Man City, his coaching will be progressive and easy on the eye ( given the right players), we might be seen as a good first club to cut his teeth on PLUS he will have good contacts for loans etc.
Interesting and certainly one that would make me look forward a bit more to the new season.

We'd be delighted if you appointed Smith lol. You guys can do a lot better than that, surely? How is Potter not top of your list?

Really weird Leeds fans are starting to visit our boards like we’re rivals or something. Maybe it’s just the fact there’s another club almost as badly run as you are that’s fascinating

It's a sad indictment of Top and the board that they haven't realised Rudkin remains a massive part of the problem. That he is leading the search and the short list mentioned tells me all about that.

Deano isn't the worst manager that could be appointed, although not very inspiring; he does have the benefit that he's already had a start at Leicester so should be able to hit the ground running. He wouldn't play Mendy though and apparently decided not to pick Vardy to take the penalty against Everton (the lunatic decision that ultimately got us relegated) so I'm not convinced. Yet.

On the moan in yesterday, there was one interesting suggestion put forward - Tomasson. However I'm unsure why he would want to come to a car crash of a club when he's doing well at Blackburn?

Who else are you going to talk to down there? Plymouth?
Leicester are without question our biggest rivals as we should be to you. We're both crap, linked to the same managers and have plenty of coins to spend after player sales. Both of us should get promoted comfortably.

I thought he'd get the job to be honest. Not sure what to think, not quite Premier League quality, but has a good history of getting teams promoted.

Norwich are a mess by the way, sacked Smith and got worse. Underwhelming but Smith over Gerrard any day.

I just knew it would be Smith and all my mates didn't believe the club would be so stupid but there you go stupid is as stupid does

We’re not rivals. I can tell you that no one on this board is bothered about Leeds. And we don’t have plenty of coins - far from it. You’d be better off pestering Southampton - they are probably your main threat

The Norwich fans to this day can’t stand Smith. Unless he’s got a Grealish or some very very creative players, his teams are rubbish on the ball and generally don’t have a lot of identity other than working hard to win the ball back. He’s an absolute football dinosaur who did fack all in his short time with us and shouldn’t be anywhere near us
