Champions League final is around the corner.....would love to see Inter cause an upset, with Dzeko scoring the winner
Anyway, With the Europa and Europa Conference League finals having just taken place in Prague and Budapest, with the Champions League final taking place in Istanbul, got me wondering, how do Uefa decide where these finals are going to be held?
Thought there was perhaps a bidding process of some sort, but it appears there is a 20 man Uefa committee, and they basically make the call between themselves.....thats shoddy as fck that.
Obviously Hampden held the Champions League final in the early noughties with Zidane scoring his famous goal.......it then hosted the Uefa Cup final between Sevilla and Espanyol in 2007
Was just thinking......Ibrox and Celtic Park are often spoken about as having the best atmosphere's in European football.....might not be the same without the Rangers/Celtic fans in attendance, but why on earth aren't Ibrox or Celtic Park ever considered for these finals.....why only Hampden??

Might be mistaken but I'm sure there are certain requirements for hosting finals. Enclosed spaces for team buses is one im sure and pitch size another.
Ibrox and parkhead dont have the enclosed team bus spaces anyway. Not sure what the pitch size is.
The pitch rule is the reason why anfield cant host them, despite this season coming having a 60k plus stadium.

I take your point mate, but Anfield has never been a top rated stadium by Uefa.
Things have obviously changed, but under the old "category ranking" that Uefa used, there were about 27 elite 5 star stadiums in Europe, and Ibrox was listed as one of them.
The only other stadiums in the UK that held that status were Wembley, Hampden, the Millennium stadium in Cardiff and Old Trafford
Think all of the stadiums on that list hosted a UEFA final of some sort, at some stage
Ibrox.....nothing

I agree I hope Intern win
But
Istanbul is a beautiful city. One of my favourite places on earth. I'd go back time and time again.
Genuinely love that place

Poor transport links went against celtic park i believe.
Nowadays it will be the lack of corporate facilities that goes against both.
Uefa more interested in that

Why would anyone want to play with the roof on in Spain in early June?
The selection for the ropey and conference is clearly throwing scraps to lesser stadiums with disregard to the number of likely travelling fans. Not that UEFA give a single fck about fans and more interested in preserving the status of their elite competition.
AFAIK it is the associations that bid for a final and Scotland having a white elephant SFA owned toilet bowl of a place are never ever going to nominate a club ground.
