Exciting Times!

Really??! I saw the fixture list this morning and the accompanying article here and wondered, “who else is feeling excited?"

I mean I’m not exactly depressed (for a change), I’m relieved that we have the managerial situation sorted, but I’m struggling to understand the excitement of going from playing Man City to Bristol City. From the FA cup final to probably doing well to get past the third round.

For me - I’m feeling a bit ‘meh’ about it all right now, some of our fans seem to have found their home at championship level - like it’s a relief! It will be a relief when we get out of this horrible division. We don’t know anything about Maresca really or how it’s going to pan out but I do wonder whether some, consumed by complete hatred of Rodgers, think we’ve now completely turned the corner and are going to walk this division.

I’ve got news for them- we probably won’t. Infact it could be a battle to get top 6. Hiring peps assistant isn’t going to guarantee any kind of success unless the other pieces of the puzzle - currently in the hands of Rudkin, Top and Whelan are put into place. That remains to be seen.

Exciting times? Not really. They’re behind us. Cautious optimism perhaps - but it’s a long way back from here. Let me know if you’re feeling really excited about the new season and why!

I guess it’s time to view things as a fresh start and to build again 99. To be positive that we can get back to winning trophies and competing against Manchester City.

The only other alternative is to wallow in self pity and leave like JG and I know you aren’t that person. We support our local team (and I think JG does now tbf).

So for me I have to have optimising as a football fan. But I’m also cautious and concerned that a lot could get worse this season. I’m an optimistic pessimist. Isn’t every football fan!!!!

Yeah agree Mersey - I mean definitely not one for wallowing in the self pity of it all or leaving the Leicester family cos it’s all gone badly. I just don’t quite get the excitement levels. I’m not excited about playing Ipswich for example.

A chance for a fresh start is cause for cautious optimism - you just hope our fans aren’t expecting a Burnley

I actually don’t think there is. He doesn’t care what division we’re in as long as Rodgers isn’t here.

I have replied separately to TB. I find the situation profoundly depressing. I haven't seen anything yet to to alleviate that.

So our fixtures are out. Whoopee, let's remind ourselves that we're unnecessarily in the Championship, how's that supposed to lighten the mood?

First game couldn't be a worse pick. Cue a stuffing by Cov with a packed away end giving it large.

A highlight will be a trip to south London in April. Not.
