Plastics

Reading the caballero thread has got me thinking about the so called ‘plastic’ supporters term that we tend to label people with. I think we’ve all got our own definitions of what that means but for me it’s generally those that turn up when we’re a PL club and things are going well and then fall away when things aren’t going well.

Some others label fans who complain about the state of the club or who don’t go because they’re not happy with its direction as ‘plastics’ but I’m not sure that’s right. If that’s the case then TBs decision to boycott attending matches while Rodgers was in charge would indeed mean he’s a plastic. I don’t think he is. An idiot - yes, a plastic - I’m not so sure

What’s your definition and how do you feel about fans that decide not to attend if they’re not happy with the state or direction of the club. Whether that’s the owners or the manager

Fans that go if you’re in the premiership but don’t if you’re in the championship are what I would call fair weather fans.

A plastic is a fan that hops sides as soon as one becomes less successful. I genuinely know a bloke (went to school with him) who was a United fan the entire time we were growing up, then Fergie left and he became a Chelsea fan.

He plays in my regular 5 aside match, one week he will wear a United shirt and the next a Chelsea shirt. I asked him why he changed sides and he gave me a load of craaap about it being easier to watch Chelsea because he lives just north of London blah, blah blah

Now that’s a plastic

You’ll have to try to resurrect the 5-a-side competition they attempted to get going on this site a few years ago. I’ll turn up and play, and we can all have a good laugh at this bloke at the same time (rather than at my expense) 😆 🤣

Just having a good old chuckle at TB tying himself in knots on the other thread. Nuneaton is like Paxman, TBs holding on for dear life

Absolutely bizarre how one poster can develop an absolute obsession with Rodgers and yet ‘couldn’t care less’ about the people running the club who are actually responsible for its direction. I think this calls for a new material - something dense but equally completely transparent….

Very kind of you to compare me with Paxman, I was in tears with the classic interview with Michael Howard.

Paxman was very good indeed. However Robin Day with his trademark bow tie was the daddy of them all! Showing my age now a bit.
