These loan deals have absolutely crippled us.

Rad, Orta and Kinnear need hanging.

Basically arrogance! We were “never” going down attitude got us in this mess where players ended up with loan clauses in their contracts.

The only silver lining is that we have got rid of a couple of duds for a year and freed up some wages.

Aaronson and Ramus being two. Koch and Llorente also off the wage bill.

You have to applaud their agents though. They certainly got their players a good deal.

It’s almost like Ridsdale drew up the contracts.

First of all I listened to the podcast and I can't recall Phil Hay saying that. 2nd of all I'm not sure what 49s could have done that was different. Like how would you have liked then to announce the had made an agreement to takeover. Jonty you would have been the first to complain of there was radio silence while the press speculated that the takeover had been done. It looks like the EFL just want to take the responsibility of taking so long to approve the deal. Thirdly the checks aren't taking any longer than other clubs so it appears there to be nothing to worry about.

Anyway apparently we beat Barnsley 9.1 in a behind closed door friendly. If no one leaves the team is still strong enough to compete at the moment. Ideally though we need a LB RCB a midfielder or two and possibly another striker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What could 49ers have done differently?

Not announced they'd taken over until EFL gave the green light.

Not have so many people join the group to takeover which further slows things down.

Be more communicative as to what is going on.

Can anyone tell me whether the EFL runs this test on every investor that buys a share in a football club playing in the EFL, please?

3 ACQUIRING OF CONTROL

3.1 If any Person proposes to acquire Control of a Club:

3.1.1 the Club and/or the Person shall, as far in advance of the acquisition of Control as reasonably possible and in any event no later than 10 Normal Working Days prior to the date on which it is anticipated that such acquisition of Control will take place:

(a) submit to the League a duly completed Declaration in respect of each Person who will become a Relevant person upon the proposed acquisition of Control; and

(b) submit to the League up to date Future Financial Information (as defined in Regulation 16) prepared to take into account the consequences of the change of Control on the Club’s future financial position; and

3.1.2 the League shall have the power to require the Club and/or the Person who proposes to acquire Control to appear before it and to provide evidence of the ultimate source and sufficiency of any funds which that Person proposes to utilise to acquire Control and/or invest in or otherwise make available to the Club.

3.2 In relation to any proposed acquisition of Control of a Club by a Person, The League shall have:

3.2.1 the powers set out in Regulation 16.20; and/or

3.2.2 the ability to impose such other conditions,

as in each case it may determine, in order to monitor and/or ensure compliance with Regulations 16 to 19, 21, 22 (including Appendix 3) and 105 to 114 inclusive (and their successor or replacement provisions).

3.3 No Person may acquire Control of a Club and no Club may permit a Person to acquire Control of it until such time as:

3.3.1 The League provides confirmation that all Persons that are required to do so have complied with the process set out in Rule 3.1.1(a) and no such Persons are liable to be disqualified as a Relevant Person;

3.3.2 The League provides confirmation of its satisfaction with the information provided pursuant to Rule 3.1.1 (b); and

3.3.3 The Club and any Person proposing to acquire Control have acceded to any powers and/or accepted any conditions imposed pursuant to Rule 3.2.

3.4 No later than 28 days after any acquisition of Control of a Club, any new Relevant Persons of the Club will attend an induction meeting with The League.
------

Being a Leeds fan I can fully appreciate how well we can muck things up, we were late with a submission, we didnt realise a jail term in US was same as in UK etc etc, if there's a way for us to make it hard for ourselves and blame someone else, as a club, we'll find it:

Likely Meslier and gnonto the ones going. All the other returning players (Summerville James and Cresswell) played against Barnsley.

How much would we get for those 2?
£40m?

Yes at the very least plus hopefully a sell on clause where we get 20% of any future sale where either player is sold at a profit above what we sold him for and all the money up front especially if Everton are involved.
Also I'll be surprised if Harrison doesn't leave and if he does we hopefully get around £20 million for him as well.

I think £19m for Gnonto is way too low, but that’s what I’m reading Everton are supposedly offering. If the club are agreeable to selling him they should throw a number out there…if they said we want £50m it’s easier to work back than have a club come in with a ridiculously low bid. Brighton would demand £50m!

That would be an incredible return for someone that cost 3m and didn't play all that much.

Reading that a bid of £15m from Everton was rejected for Gnonto and that they are saying he isn't for sale as they plan to build team around him.
