Shiyte kits for another decade.

How does the money hold up against other teams deals out there?

10 years seems like a long time considering how much the shape of the financial side of the game has changed in recent years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They aren't a fashion item mate. They are for running around in.

Not having a go at just you directly here either. It's a gripe I have with modern day football fans. Kits are not part of Milan fashion week. They are for playing footy in primarily. Any adult who makes them part of their every day attire needs to grow up a bit in my eyes. Any adult who gets one and a name on the back is even worse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would imagine most blokes like myself can still pass judgement whether they’re nice shirts or not or good looking kits without actually caring to buy one, I wouldn’t buy one even if I thought it was the best kit since the 90s but I can still say that Adidas have given us some shockers in recent times.

They could at least go down the retro route with some of the classic old adidas strips we had.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm far more bothered about who is playing in them for the team than how they look.

Its all a bit girly to me getting angry at the kits not being good looking enough. Probably better off going to Trafford centre with the Mrs than the match with the lads. 😂

The lads who very carefully coordinate their Adidas trainers with their Stoney / CP Company / Moncler jumpers and jackets 🤣

Bloke in his 40s who sits near me had all 3 new kits last year each with a different name on, obviously in the Winter doesn’t want to cover them so wears them over the top of hoody/coat etc.

Looking forward to seeing if he’s got all 3 again this year.

Chill.

The kit still needs to look good. A terrible looking kit is embarrassing to play in.

Also what's wrong with buying the kit and having your name on the back, as long as you use it when playing football and not as a fashion statement?

That's what they are for aren't they. Wearing your colours. Good for him.

“ They aren't a fashion item mate.”

They literally are, loads of clubs have done collaborations with fashion labels, just because they’re not for you doesn’t mean football kits don’t have a huge market in the fashion world today. They’re just a bit of fun and people can wear whatever they like. Probably gonna tell me Barbie is just for women next.

This is Liverpool's reported deal - https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-news/features/liverpool-kits-leaked-nike-deal-26467928
----------------------------------------------------------------------
20 % of all merchandise sold, apparently worth around 100m a year total.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah Liverpools agreement was unusual when it was made. A relatively low £30 million per season up front but they get 20% of all net sales.

My understanding is that generally the club gets the up front money but nothing or very little from actual sales. £90 million a year seems like a pretty decent deal, but the 10 year timeframe feels long. In football terms £90 million may not be that much in 2030. Who knows.

The value and length of the contract is the trade off.

Adidas probably wouldn't want to commit such an amount, but they have secured United for 10 years, which is a huge deal.

Also who knows exactly what the maximum of this deal is. It is quoted the 90 million is the minimum.
