Now that the dust has settled on

the first Prem game of the season for Spurs, lots of good things, and a few not so good things came out of the game. Usually pleased with an away point, but I think Spurs probably missed a trick yesterday by not getting the win, all be it the ref didn`t help. Lots of possession and some really good play, without creating a great deal. But very pleasing on the eye nonetheless.

It was more of a case of a team of two halves, rather than a game of two halves. Half of the team were very good to excellent, the other half were poor or very poor. But at least it gives Ange something to work on going forward. And I am sure he will tweak the team for United next weekend.

The very good to excellent players firstly

Bissouma, brilliant midfield display, couldn`t have asked for more 9/10
Udogie, excellent debut, and looks an absolute steal 8/10
Maddison, again another very good debut, always busy, and looking forward 8/10
Van, a very steady debut, and looked very comfortable from the off, couldn`t do anything about the deflection 7/10
Romero, decent 10 minutes and a goal before he was subbed off 7/10
Emerson, had a very decent game against a very fast winger, and weighed in with a nice goal. 7/10
Sanchez, did very well when he came on, and was not at fault for either goal 7/10

The not so good or poor

Vicario, did OK, made a couple of decent saves, looked a bit shaky with the ball at his feet, but gets abit of a free pass on debut. Will no doubt get better 6/10
Son, looks completely lost out wide, much better when he has acres of space to run into. Just cannot break down packed defences. 4/10
Kulu, much the same, was very poor yesterday, continuing from last season by the look of it, just cutting inside, and going nowhere most of the time 4/10
Richie, looked as if the pressure of replacing the main man may be playing on his mind, but the service to him was abyssmal. Expect him to improve 4/10
Skipp, afraid we have another Harry Winks on our hands, never going to get any better, sideways and backwards. Tries hard, but he just aint got it at this level. Cannot see him holding down a place in the team for very long. Sarr or Lo Celso to replace him in the short term before Bentacur comes back 3/10

Overall though was fairly pleased, and expect a new striker to be imminent to help Richie, and wouldn`t be surprised to see Solomon in against United, looks very direct, and has an eye for goal. Ange will no doubt make a couple of changes for United, and playing at home hopefully go for the win.

Summing up, pretty pleased with the general play, just need to be a bit more ruthless up front. I am sure that will come in time. Plenty to look forward to.

agree Son, Richy and Skipp disappointing.

Goalie didnt have much to do, seemed rash in places, early days for him

Everyone else were good or better
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty much my assessment

But here's one for you Phenom: you've changed your tune in regards to Sanchez as you haven't said he was disappointing?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ive never been as down on sanchez as some but on the ball he has been horrendous but wasnt as much yesterday. him as an athlete and defending in highline so much more suited than another other than Romero and VdV we have. He played well when he came on yesterday
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, reminded me when he was performing under Poch. Looked solid and has speed to recover. Always has brain fart moments, far too often I think

RB is a huge problem for us, Royal is bang average and was at fault for their second goal, we can`t have our right sided defender being skinned as easily as that, Spence is not fancied and Porro is a RW and not a RB.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Billy, absolutely nothing wrong with Emerson, if not for him, Spurs would not have even got a point. The biggest problem is the three up front. They were all poor yesterday, carrying on last season`s form.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He cost us a goal and scored a goal, so we would still have drawn. He is a steady enough player but we could do with better if we have any ambition.

All of the negatives, bar the keeper, are the same as they were last season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Except Kane was able to paper over some of those negatives and now he isn't here.

Get Orban signed already.

This is nonesense.

For the 2nd goal, Emerson was out paced by a very quick winger who played well.

Fact was the ballo was lost and played in behind him, he lost a leg race, doesnt make him poor or at fault.

Perhaps if he is going to be stepping into CM we need someone more adept with the ball at his feet but overall he did ok, and scored !

Yeh silly comment from Billy. Losing one leg race, don't make you a poor player. He more than made up for it elsewhere.

I suppose you thought Sanchez was immense also, because for once he didn`t fall over his own feet

It's progress

Sanchezs did well in a couple of last minute blocks and tackles, which is probably his strength, but he did not do so well in aerial battles, he played us into trouble a couple times with the ball and then let a cross into the box without even attempting to intercept it. This sums him up. One minute he looks quite good but the next he drops a clanger.

We've seen enough of him to know its time to move on but for Emerson, he has improved and is actually one of our most defensively sound at the back.

Both Emerson and Sanchez played well yesterday. Certainly better than Son and Kulu.

I don’t want Sanchez anywhere near that defence though Sandy. He simply isn’t good enough. Next game he will be conceding us 2 goals due to his errors
