A lot talk recently has been about the signings ETH has made since he has taken over, so here's a list of them. Let's see if his 'Talent ID' is as bad as been talked about.
All in Euros and according to https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-united/alletransfers/verein/985
ARRIVALS 22/23
Antony €95.00m
Casemiro €70.65m
Lisandro Martínez €57.37m
Tyrell Malacia €15.00m
Christian Eriksen Free Transfer
ARRIVALS 23/24
Rasmus Højlund €75.00m
Mason Mount €64.20m
André Onana €52.50m
Around 400mil Euros spent.
I think we have improved in only a couple of positions. Our squad was a MESS when ETH took over, the issue is that we cant seem to shift players and that is causing a lot of average players to still be on the books, even with a lot of players leaving.
Apart from maybe Antony, the rest have performed to at least an acceptable level so far, I won't judge this season's signings just yet.
I think a lot of negativity around ETH is unwarranted (apart from the fact he seems to have a couple of favourites he doesn't tend to switch out if they are not performing yet).
Still a lot of replacements needed, a lot of players needed.
Ten Hag's Transfers

Ten hag is a decent coach, and I said last season if your recruitment is on point you could be a scary proposition.
Hasn't really happened though. Removing De Gea for Onana was good, but it seems Erik is reluctant to move away from a deeper line. I don't think CB is Lisandro's true position, and Varane holds you back a little bit too. I notice Wan bissaka has started both your games. The qualities these players provide are just too mish-mashy to form a conducive build up if you're to play like a top team.
Onto the midfield. Casemiro looks like he's overweight and maybe accepted he's on the last big contract of his career. Him, mount and Bruno is just not a very good midfield imo. Again, there's just nobody there to progress the ball consistently.
So we've established there's no real build up in defence or midfield. Moving onto the attack, Rashford once again seems to be your only decent outlet? The guy just ain't a central striker, his hold up and and back to goal play is virtually non existent.
I'm not really sure what style united want to play, I don't think the players do either. I've read a fair few of the big players united have signed share the same agent as ten hag. If that's true, that would be a concern for me.

Very good points in my opinion that many on here would disagree with.

The problem with Antony is he cost 90m, doesn't score or assist anywhere near enough, isn't quick and there are 10 better players in that position in the league.
Guys playing for the likes of Villa, Brighton, Palace.
Always going to get a rough ride in that scenario unfortunately.
How Ten Hag deals with him will set the tone for his United managerial career. I'd like to see him be really brave and try move him on at 50-60m and buy someone cheaper and better.

2 games into his 2nd season and you want to write him off?
Madness.

Still can’t believe we spent so much on a relatively unproven striker
£72m is crazy imo but that’s this club all over
£60m on Mount was bad enough
Onana I’m okay with

£64m and £55m weren't they?

Don’t think Kane was ever a realistic option though. Let’s say we got Kane for £150m, then we have no money for anything else.

This is the problem. Levy would not sell to us unless it was a stupidly inflated fee. Secondly his wages would be over 5x as much as Højlund‘s per week.

When it comes to United you have to use euros but compare it against pounds so it looks like higher fees

Depends which outlet you believe, even so, those figures are still not great, people will say what does the cost matter, it’s not my money, and I would agree if we were buying proven quality

Lots of rumours about Gravenberch coming now.
Good player and probably a decent price but he doesn't solve any of our issues.
