Monaco sign Folarin Balogun

He has gone in a five-year deal for £35m. Looks like Arteta doesn't think he is good enough for our 1st team - preferring Lucky Eddie as the Jesus stand-in.

But it's a decent bit of business - although I think he will be sold for more in a couple of years

Hopefully the money will be used in this window

Anyway - good luck Folarin Balogun

17.5% sell on clause. I think we will end up getting around 10mil more for balogun in the future

Decent bit of business for you, that aside arteta does seem make some pretty mental decisions. I wonder what his end game is.

£40 Odd Million not bad but could have been so much better.

If it was the other way round Monaco would be asking for 60Mil min.

I suppose the sell on clause is decent so if he gets sold for 50+ Mil we would get another 10Mil on top. Personally would have been looking for min 25% sell on clause.

"Lucky Eddie"

Time will tell with him. He may well have a higher ceiling than any striker we currently have, can definitely understand why he'd be keen to leave given Arteta trusts Eddie over him.

Bit of a shame it's to Ligue 1, as even if he's banging in goals for fun, it's still going to be hard to judge whether he could do it in a stronger league.

no goodbye from Balogun, he sure feel out with Arteta

Good bit of business and a decent fee (+sell-on clause) for what was ultimately our 3rd/4th choice forward.

Difficult to predict how he will turn out. Could now go on to set the world alight and we look silly for letting him go. But there is clearly something there that Arteta doesn't rate/trust and whilst his numbers looked great last season, lets not forget that Laca also banged in 27 goals in that league.

For selling to a team outside of England, that’s a decent fee. Shame no good offer came in from the prem midtable team, could have got nearer 50. Failing that it’s either sell to rivals, or abroad for cheaper.

we have a 17.5% sell on clause, I don't see how we will look silly letting him go if he gets resold again. He wasn't going to extend his contract and he wanted regular minutes.
We need the money, sell him while his stock is high
