Reportedly a billion spent by Clearlake

So how have we ended up no further forward? Where have the board gone wrong? My opinion I will share later just want to see if other peeps thoughts? Are we now going to have to suck up "transition periods" which were never a part of Roman's tenure ie if we missed out on trophies one year we'd get one the following and always qualified for Champs League one way or another.

Like I say, I don't support the way they've done it. I would have spent a lot less money.

Bit different having Mbappe injured and Chuckwemeka.

not if theye both injured.

Nkunku had a goal or assist for every start last year. A huge miss.

But it’s not luck that you’ve assembled a side that lacks quality goalscorers, it’s poor squad building.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
how do you know we lack goalscorers? Still too early to say. We weren't compensating for nkunku being out injured for 7 months and chukwumeka (started both the first games) now being out for a long period too.

It's such fine margins, if someone starts banging them in, say nkunku scores v liverpool, then we go and beat west ham, all of a sudden others start chipping in (sterling already scored a few this year).

it's not rocket science.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ifs buts and maybes...when the reality is that none of that happened and you have 4 points, 3 of which from beating Luton (h) and youve had 1 away game in 4, which you lost, against 10 men.

Never played for you but a huge miss

Werner had more than 1 assist or goal per game at Leipzig and look how that turned out.

yeah but it's not asif we've not invested in goalscorers is my point. Lukaku didnt work either. Its all conjecture at this point. Not sure what you are struggling with here.

Of course our marquee signing of the summer (actually bought him in Jan) is a huge miss.

It is when you’re assessing the squad building.

Nkunku is a different debate, but it also remains to be seen if he’s just a beneficiary of Bundesliga tax like many before him.

yep, and these young players also. If nkunku scored 3 in 4 and put 2 on a plate for jackson nobody would be saying anything about squad building.

This is all hypothetical anyway, as mentioned, i think the ownership havent done it the right way.

If you had more than one good attacker nobody would be questioning the squad building after spending £1bn? Doubt it.

More ifs and buts.

I think the overview is probably that it looks like a squad thrown together at great expense by folk with questionable expertise, over the last 2 summers, and therefore its hard to have faith that it has been a structured strategy and will all work out.

At this point last season we sacked TT. Some said that was too soon, now we are judging this season on 4 matches?

In my experience it is difficult to judge home your season might go for a month or so yet.

We may not like the plan though I can't say that I have seen it stated anywhere but I have an idea of the intentions. But in truth what I can take from what I can see is probably the tip of the ice berg. One thing I'm sure of is that it is a long term plan and they tend to take tome and require a little patience.
