Thoughts from today

After an away 3 points then an insipid local derby and international break wasn't sure what to expect.

Settled side with just Byram returning, wasnt happy to see Piroe playing deep.

Millwall liked very dangerous early on, but our defence stood firm and was really impressed with Rodon, saw the game well, right place at right time and Struijk had one of his better games, looked very solid.

Byram looked very good at left back, knows what he's doing, looks like he has loads of time and links up well with Gnonto.

I wasnt that impressed with Gnonto today, makes a meal of everything and not quite any end product today but one cross across teh 6 yard box and an example of where Piroe playing higher up would have been more effective.

Summerville was buzzing on the other side, but again without Piroe up top there wasnt really any end product.

However, great breakaway and Piroe coming from deep did work and lovely combination with him and Rutter and that goal was enough to win that match, Millwall for all their incisive looking play going forwards didnt have cutting edge at the end.

Gray had been brilliant up to now, stepping in, passing, moving well, he looks so comfortable at this level and is really just beginning.

Ampadu had looked a bit average and an awful misplaced pass nearly cost us, but then he started taking more control and was hugely influential in the middle.

Rutter grew into the match and literally looked as if he was finding his feet. I must say, when he got his goal I felt really happy for him. I think he's been an awful signing for the amount of money, but that isn't his fault and hopefully the heavy price tag has been slightly lifted and now we might better see what he can offer.

Dan James comes on and cause issues but technique not there to finish which gives Piroe his second, and he was grinning all over his face before even tucking the ball in.

And finally we see Dan James pace utilised as he streaks forwards and then creates the goal for Rutter, this really is how we should be using him.

Overall, an impressive performance and new and fringe players maturing into this new team, all of them played very well and a clean sheet which should help what is a still nervy looking Meslier.

I dont think they are in top gear yet, I think that there is more to come.

I'd still like to see Gnonto make a proper apology to the fans and with injury problems easing we might just wee LIW and ADRITK getting the drinks in end of season.

Just one note of complaint. Clubs made big issues of addressing hate chants, yet it didn't take long to hear Jimmy Saville chants, its disgraceful and I hop Millwall take this seriously and we hear of arrests of people who are starting this obscene chanting.

Well done Leeds!

A lot of cheap shots at the referee.
Most blatant yellow card missed was gnonto 2 handed shirt pull. There were no bad tackles on the day at all and referee played a big hand in our first goal when not buying their attempts to get a free kick. He was very good. No key decisions wrong. Some of you guys need to go referee a game and see how hard it is.

As for the game hope we hear an end for now the calls for Piroe at 9. He’s played 3 games at 10 and scored 3 goals. The team has scored 7 and taken 7 from 9 points. That was his best performance so far and him dropping deep allowed us to a base to start attacks from.

Piroe / rutter / Rodon / byram the best players for me today. Hard to pick a motm from those 4.

Absolutely elated and got exactly what I expected. 3 points and a good performance. Hopefully this result sees us on a steady climb up the league.

You don’t need bad tackles to get booked. Constant fouling is a bookable offence now and a few of their players were very guilty of it.

Anyone who sees it differently doesn’t understand the game these days.

Leonard could and been cautioned for persistent fouling on Gnonto
Gnonto should have been carded for the pull back. My own take on it was the referee was lenient with both players. Evened out. Nothing to see here

Dont talk utter nonsense.

They had only 13 fouls. One player had 3, rest less. So where is this persistent fouling you talk about 🤷🏻‍♂️

We had 9 fouls.

Did you watch the game ?.

Ref let the game flow, which really suited us.

Great game by the ref, just how it should be reffed

A good professional performance, early goal helped and when we score one it will be hard for teams to come back as we will pick them off,
Piroe reminds me of of Allan Clarke a bit and whilst not an out and out striker in my eyes Rutter looks like he will make a big contribution this season, was disappointed in Summerville and will be surprised if James or Anthony dont contribute more,
Games come thick and fast now so no time to rest on our laurels but 9 times out of 10 our class will shine through,
Yes Jonty the drinks will be on me come season end with maybe the bonus for the 100 goal season 80-1,
Ps. Is the whiteboard the new bucket it got booed coming off the team coach yesterday,

On a positive note I was adamant we needed a new LB but Byram continues to impress there. I don't know why but i think Farke might also get a tune out of Firpo. Fingers crossed.

only saw the second half but i agree with stoopo and maid with their take on the ref. forget the clowns name marking gnonto but he was constantly holding and interfering with him. We got the goals and kept the clean sheet but the ref certainly didn't help.
