Interviewer - "Mention Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne, did you ever envision that they would go on and achieve what they've achieved"
John Terry - "Absolutely not. No chance."
Mikel - "I think Kevin De Bruyne wasn't the best trainer back then ... You know he was always head down, he was always angry, he was suffering, He was like a kid.
Gives a good perspective on why Mourinho let them go. De Bruyne in particular was a young player who Mourinho challenged to really fight for a place in a world class team and prove him wrong, yet De Bruyne got the hump, had an attitude, and didn't want to compete. You can't blame Mourinho for thinking this kid isn't ready. The fact that John Terry, a world class experienced captain at that point, didn't sense De Bruyne's potential further vindicates Mourinho... there was nothing to indicate that De Bruyne deserved more than what Mourinho gave him.
All Mourinho wanted was for De Bruyne to fight. He didn't and so what more could Mourinho do?

managers see players like this all the time. the game has lost loads of players with all the talent in the world but not the mentality.
Perhaps getting punted from Chelsea was the making of the guy, so it could be argued that Jose saved/made his career.

Yeah, JT was definitely WC. He’d get into any team when at his prime.
