Will this change things.

At present I am suffering from lack of sleep,up both Saturday and Sunday at 5-30 am to watch the Union W/C Quarter finals.

From what I saw the handling of the England players (especially the backs) was absolute rubbish. Even the other teams that lost were far superior to England in their handling and this is repeated year after year.

This brings the question,do you think that the English Union clubs knowing the advantage they have in finances will make a stronger effort to sign League players.

In the last week it as come to light that both Sam and Joel Tomkins have signed with an agency which is mostly Union based.

Opinions please off both League and Union fans.

I think the union will tread very carefully when selecting a player to convert from league to union, it is to hit an miss with who is going to make the grade and who isn't......I mean if they were to go wild and purchase say 10 of the leagues best for a small fortune and only 5 of them came up with the goods they would look like fools in sending the rest packing, in the mean time the league would of developed 10 more players......where would it stop, I don't think they would take the gamble and may only steal the odd 1 or 2 here and there like in the past.

As for the union world cup, I have never seen a team lose with so much possession or advantages in any form of the game as Sth.Africa had in losing to OZ, they were all over us and should of won by 20+ with all the ball 80% they had.
I know it's the done thing in union to always take the 3 points on offer from a penalty but each time Sth.Africa took the penalty they had OZ on the rack and by shooting at goal released the pressure for 10 -min. or so, dumb dumb dumb....but hey, we will take the win whilst they pack their bags.....

The answer for union in the England is not Rugby League players, but teaching the junior union players basic skills like passing and handling.
I think the biggest problem Rugby League players have when they switch codes is the slowness of the union game.

Headline in the Sun Newspaper this morning.
'Joel Tomkins to Union' It says that both Saracens and Harlequins are interested in signing him and that he may be left out of the 4 nations squad because of this link.
Will Sam be next?.
