Mainoo - High praise indeed

Even before he popped up with that incredible last gasp winner I thought he was superb all game. Absolute class act.

The highest praise I can give him though is he looks like he's not coached by the same people or trains with the same players. Whilst every other player in the team looks so frantic every time they get the ball, he always looks so calm and that he has time to spare. It's refreshing to see.
Far better on the ball than Casemiro is although obviously Cas has other strengths that maybe Kobbie still needs to work on given he's still so young.

Once again it's the academy that could save our backsides. God knows we need it to with our recruitment record of late. Hopefully that's an area that Jim's new team will fix though.

We've known it for a while but this lad has star quality. If he keeps himself honest he could go on to be truly world class CM for us and England. Just need to keep the right people around him.

Will Southgate be interested? I reckon the Euros may come too soon for him but wouldn't shock me if he's in the England 11 by the next world cup from what we've seen from him.

Hope not, a) it’s way too early for him and it might damage him, b) apart from yesterday he doesn't really deserve it

Are Jude Bellingham's parents busy?

I think the Euros will come too soon. Southgate is too safe. Will be exciting to see him alongside Bellingham at some point in the future.

You are probably lucky that Mount has been injured as he would have probably blocked his progress had Mount been fit to start/bench.

Absolute nonsense. Every noise coming out of the club in July/August was that Mainoo would be playing a huge part this season, and it was when he got injured we went and got Amrabaat.

There’s a lot of things you can take a swipe at ETH for but he saw what Mainoo has very early.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So had Casemiro and Mount been fit all season, you think that Mainoo would have been a regular in the midfield ahead of any of these guys and Bruno.

You've jumped on this comment and taken it as a slight against ETH, which it isnt. I have no doubt ETH will have understood this guys qualities but he is only 18 and a more balanced expectation is that the experienced, expensive signings would have started most games and Mainoo's development woud have been a bit more gradual, with sub appearances and occasional starts...in the same way LFC have done with their young midfielders.

There is risk in placing so much burden on an 18 yo and while this guy has been thrown in at the deep end and seems capable of taking it all in his stride, he is still at an age where his game time and development needs to be carefully managed. For now though he looks like your best midfielder, which must be a bit of a worry and will likely see any management of him trumped by the facts he's now undroppable.

I think there's every chance Mainoo would have played regularly despite the injuries to others.

He was playing regularly in pre-season.

Without a doubt. He's a better CM than Mctominay already and Eriksen has the ability but his legs have
gone.

He'd be the first CM on the team sheet for me. Even ahead of Casemiro which sounds stupid when you say it out loud but that's how good he looks. Casemiro has also looked rather clumsy on the ball this season and more than last year. I won't be devastated if he does end up leaving in summer.

Mainoo would have probably beat out Mount for games.

I'm sure that Kobbie is desperate for games, but I'm not so sure that he would have resorted to manual stimulation of a teammates genitals to get them.
