Terrible decision making in the final third

In spite of defences lapses, Petrovic blunder, Poch instilling a weak mentality in the team, which are all issues that led to an embarrassing result yesterday, the main issue was being criminally wasteful in and around the box.

We should have scored about 5 yesterday, which would have made none of the rest of those issues matter. Players are either brain dead when they get into great positions, or worse, they care more about personal glory because they know the team and league position is dead anyway. Some of these chances are incredibly easy to convert. Think of how many tapins you see Man City score.

Poch needs to show these chances back to the players and ensure they operate more like a team in the future. Because otherwise it’s one area where I do have sympathy for the manager (even though I still don’t think he’s good enough), whose job is to get us into good attacking situations but ultimately he can’t put the ball in the net himself.

His comments about ‘we should be 4th based on data’ were a bit embarrassing but the general idea that this team is grossly underperforming in terms of results relative to general performances is true. We’re far too wasteful.
