One more twist...

Final game in a few days, and then endeth another entertaining season. The overwhelming likelihood is that City will make crumpled foil of the Irons, and we'll be lamenting yet another 'so close' season. Closest yet, mind, and I'm very proud of how the team have done this year.

However...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cqlnljpzdk9o

If you don't want to read the link, the gist is simple and you may already know - Ederson will miss the last league game and the cup final. Obviously I hope he recovers soon and fully, it's a nasty injury.

What it means, though, is Ortega will deputise. As we saw at Allergic-To-Silverware Stadium, Ortega is a capable backup. However, he isn't Ederson, and the dynamic changes with the goalkeeper. If for no other reason than to sign off with a win, West Ham might actually try their luck.

Chances are we won't hear much about Ortega in the game because City will likely decimate West Ham. But if we do, it'll be for one of two reasons:

He's had another title-saving moment;
He's completely bottled it.

And if it's the latter, the irony is unmistakable - after all of their loud wishes for their own team to lose so City would win the title, Spurs will have one of their own players to thank for this. It was Cristian Romero who injured Ederson.

There's probably nothing in this. But it ain't over till it's over.

Your failure to read is most alarming. For someone so good at chess it would stand to reason that you are reasonably intelligent, but you either fail to read or comprehend.

----

before I get into the post, I should tell I can hardly read.. I've survived to 42 years ducking diving trying to get away with ittrue story...

Chess has nothing to do with intelligence either, a common misconception, thats the way the media portray it, kids with local accents and builders etc can be strong players too... they;ll hardly get the chance because people veiw it the way you have.

and a little like what you're accusing me of

right, onto your post

I get most of it is spatial awareness, but still I wouldn’t expect an illiterate like yourself to be any good

right so the gist of it, taking all your little digs out, is that you don't think I understand about rivalry?!

"""""It consumes every facet of your waking day at the moment - family, Work, mates - I’m surrounded by Gooners."""" sounds like you don't even enjoy supporting your team... and there's more a deeper emotion way aside from football going on there

its more one up banter for you than actual football? at the cost of your team?

I'll slip the dig mate

hmm spatial awareness a little, tactical, long term planning, recognition and some gut feeling maybe... at a certain level when you're playing 5 hour long games, stickablity, concerntration etc..

you're average brick layer can have all that - don;t have to be middle class or public school.

its the media portrayal of it - I totally fell into it, turned out I was good whadya know

I am fan, I love Spurs, I want us to win every trophy going.

When in a position where a win would bring us next to nothing whilst simultaneously handing our biggest rivals the title - I would prefer us not to win.

Plenty of Gooners would agree with that if the shoe was on the other foot

Let that sink in fella before responding

Tell me more about this chess rivalry you have that is at Spurs vs Arsenal levels

------------------

I can't, because I don't, what a ridiculous thing to say

but like you've pointed out, there are other football rivalries, my pals support other teams, again, you're not the only one... I hear the banter all the time.

its still fact that you hinder your own team at the expense of another... its lunacy.

Tell me how you view the scots and their attitude to England's fortunes ?

The Scots have never been in a position to deny England anything by losing to another team, so it is non comparable.

How do I view Scots fans in general - I don’t care, they’ve never got close to winning anything.

How do I view how they view us - I don’t care, they hate us, we hate them, I hope we win - I think that’s natural

But it does not compare in the slightest, at the start of the season I want Spurs to win the lot. When we get to a point where we can’t and a win for us means faaaack all but could hand Arsenal the title then I actively want us to lose. If Scotland find themselves in a similar situation then I would think it weird if they did not feel similar.

No idea what you’re trying to get at, I think you’ve put yourself in check mate

I mean, for the most literate person on JA606, you're not overly cracking at getting meanings are ya...

"no idea what you're getting at", I've said it a few times mate,

Its a disgrace to any competitive sport a set of fans would want to lose, and hinder their own progress, at the expense of team that you are inferior too.

its that simple. Its put you in such a bad light, these top managers, players around the world how are they viewing this? .

personally, I view the scots as a little bitter.. a bit childish and the worst thing for them is, as you have mentioned, we're not even that bothered

so ya proved my point trying to tell me why its waaayyy different

long term planning ya see... Sicilian Dragon bishop so passive at first, but wow, give it the space once you;ve opened the centre

anyhow - top bantz, off to cut my grass now the suns out....

I do hope you anti-arsenal fans manage to see a few Arsenal loses next season... maybe an injury or two to boot?

maybe they can show the arsenal game on the big screen during the spurs games? - I'm sure a stadium full of anti-arsenal fans would appreciate that pal
