I still don't get the reasoning behind the new format. I presume it can only be to increase revenues, as it's clearly got nothing to do with the sporting competition.

Baz, the shot at glory is just one part of the equation. Madrid also pay massive wages.

The reason was to ward off the super league. They had to find additional places for the top leagues and provide additional sums. Hence now why it’s 8 group games - the smaller sides benefit from the additional revenue and therefore don’t kick up a fuss that 2 further sides from the 4 elite leagues will participate

If you're talking strictly under the CL denomination, it's actually more than all the PL sides combined.

It’s a phenomenal trophy haul they have. Still have them as the biggest and most successful club on the planet, no matter what the social media fans counts and bank say. There’s a reason the very top players still go there.

Can anyone on here dig out a single comment anyone has made about La Liga being schitt or a farmers league?

Over a 20 year period they have dominated, since 2019 it’s swung back to England, but they are Europes 2 top leagues with Germany and Italy slightly behind. It’s the rest of the leagues that are absolutely pap bar certain sides

Why is how good a league currently is based on a team winning a trophy in the 60s?

There are much better measures for determining how good a league is. Fan experience, atmospheres, competitive matches, entertainment, rivalries etc.

Not sure TV fans would understand this though.

You find the PL the most exciting because that is where your team play. You don't enjoy other leagues so much because you aren't invested in the same way.

If you were a fan of a Turkish team, I am pretty sure you'd find that league the best.

People losing sight of what makes football great. Although they are mainly TV fans.
